The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a dopant composition-nanomaterial composite, which method makes it possible to simply and efficiently change a Seebeck coefficient value of a nanomaterial. This manufacture method of the present invention includes the steps of: (a) putting a dopant composition in contact with a nanomaterial in a solvent; (b) drying a mixture obtained in the step (a) so as to remove the solvent, the dopant composition containing a given anion and an onium ion.

The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a dopant composition-nanomaterial composite, which method makes it possible to simply and efficiently change a Seebeck coefficient value of a nanomaterial. This manufacture method of the present invention includes the step of putting a dopant composition in contact with a nanomaterial in a solvent, the dopant composition containing an anion, a cation, and a scavenger.

A light emitting device includes a light source and a wavelength converter that includes a resin including a constitutional unit that includes an ionic liquid or a derivative of the ionic liquid, and a semiconductor nanoparticle phosphor included in the resin and provided on at least a portion of the light source. A wavelength converter includes a resin including a constitutional unit that includes an ionic liquid or a derivative of the ionic liquid, and a semiconductor nanoparticle phosphor included in the resin and emitting fluorescence upon receiving excitation light. A light emitting device includes the wavelength converter and a light source emitting excitation light to the wavelength converter, which is provided separately from the wavelength converter.

There is provided a metal complex that is large in degree of a change in emission intensity, the change being caused by a change in molecular structure of a ligand through a photochromic reaction. The metal complex is arranged such that a diarylethene-based photochromic molecule coordinates to a metal ion via two groups directly bonded to respective reaction site carbons and that the groups are each independently a group selected from Formula Group (1) below.

The present invention has been created to provide a near infrared high emission rare-earth complex having an excellent light-emitting property in the near infrared region. The near infrared high emission rare-earth complex of the present invention is characterized in that its structure is expressed by the following general formula (1): where Ln(III) represents a trivalent rare-earth ion; n is an integer equal to or greater than three; Xs represent either the same member or different members selected from a hydrogen atom, a deuterium atom, halogen atoms, C-Cgroups, hydroxyl groups, nitro groups, amino groups, sulfonyl groups, cyano groups, silyl groups, phosphonic groups, diazo groups and mercapto groups; and Z represents a bidentate ligand.

Near infrared high emission rare-earth complex

A method to easily manufacture a nanosized EuSe crystal which has been conventionally difficult to be manufactured. Heating an Eu(III) complex whose general formula is represented by the following formula generates an EuSe crystal having a particle size corresponding to the heating condition. Alternatively, the mixture composed of Eu(III) complex, a counter cation, and a solvent may be heated. The particle size of the nanosized EuSe crystals can be manipulated by the heating condition, thus the absorption wavelength of the EuSe crystals can be easily controlled. In addition, it is easy to create a magnetooptic-responsive plastic using the high dispersibility of the EuSe crystals, thus it can be immediately applied to an optical isolator or other devices.

Example embodiments relate to a circular dichroism fluorescent microscope having a confocal section. In the circular dichroism fluorescent microscope, a circularly polarizing/modulating section converts, into right and left circularly polarized lights, a light beam emitted from a light source. As such, the obtained right and left circularly polarized lights are focused on a sample so that the sample is irradiated with the right and left circularly polarized lights. Then, an optical lens focuses fluorescence emitted from the sample. Further, a wavelength selecting section transmits only fluorescence having a predetermined wavelength. Subsequently, the fluorescence having passed through the wavelength selecting section is detected. Based on fluorescent intensity signals of the fluorescence, a difference between an intensity of the fluorescence emitted from the sample at the time of irradiation with the use of the right circularly polarized light and that with the use of the left circularly polarized light is calculated.

In one embodiment of the present invention, an information identification device, an information identification method, and an information identification system each of which can maintain a high security level and which can be used for a long time without any restrictions on use conditions are realized. An ID identification system includes: an ID identifying medium containing a rare-earth complex; and an ID identification device for identifying identification information corresponding to the rare-earth complex. The ID identification device includes: a light source for irradiating, with exciting light, an ID identifying medium containing a rare-earth complex; a measurement section for receiving light emitted from the ID identifying medium, and for measuring spectral intensities of the light; a computation section for computing a ratio of spectral intensities at different wavelengths among the spectral intensities thus measured; and an identification section for identifying identification information corresponding to the ratio thus computed.

The present invention provides a photochromic compound that is colored when irradiated with visible light and quickly faded when set in a dark place. The photochromic compound according to the present invention is expressed by the following general formula (I): where each of A, Aand Ais a five-member rings forming a 6&#x3c0;-electron system, the three rings being identical, partially identical or totally different from each other, and each ring may have a substituent; Band Bare functional groups, each having an atomic number of five or larger, including a ring compound, and bonded to the 2-carbon of each of Aand A, respectively; and R, Rand Rare substituents identical to or different from each other. This compound is highly colorable and durable even when it is dispersed into plastic macromolecular materials. Therefore, it is suitable as a dye material for sunglasses or similar products.
