To provide a sprocket that reduces the influence of tension fluctuations concurrent with load torque variations, that suppresses noise and vibration, and that prevents an increase in tension fluctuations, noise, and vibration even when the chain tension is low and the load torque is small, or in regions where a chain and the sprocket engage without being affected by the tension. The sprocket has a plurality of teeth mating with the chain that are provided with an equal pitch therebetween, and that include teeth with different working pressure angles relative to the chain.

Sprocket and drive mechanism

Provided is a sprocket which suppresses generation of order sounds corresponding to cycles and prevents increase in tension fluctuations, noise, and vibrations caused by resonance while alleviating the influence of the tension fluctuations corresponding to load torque fluctuations and suppressing noise and vibrations. A plurality of teeth formed to engage with a chain are arranged to form a phase fluctuation pattern of a waveform having a phase which fluctuates between positive and negative sides, and the phase fluctuation pattern is set to have parts having different wavelengths.

Sprocket and transmission mechanism

Provided are a sprocket and a chain transmission mechanism configured such that noise and vibrations caused by the elongation of the chain and also wear of parts are reduced, the decrease in the meshing strength of the chain and the sprocket is inhibited, and the chain service life is extended. The sprocket and chain transmission mechanism each have bottom land portion arcs of a predetermined radius and a predetermined angular range between a plurality of teeth to be meshed with the chain. The radius of each of the bottom land portion arcs satisfies the following relationship with the diameter of a roller or a bush of the meshing chain: Rb&#x3e;0.505*&#x3c6;r+0.069*&#x3c6;r(where Rb is the bottom land portion arc radius, and &#x3c6;r is the diameter of the roller or the bush of the meshing chain).

Sprocket and chain transmission mechanism

In a silent chain of the inner flank engagement and outer flank seating type, the link plate teeth are arranged so that their rearwardly facing inner flanks protrude slightly beyond the outer flank overlapping link plate teeth in a preceding row when the chain is straight and in tension. The rearwardly facing inner flank is composed of an arc-shaped engagement starting region adjacent the tip and a straight engagement guiding region extending toward the root.

Low friction sound-type silent chain

In a silent chain, cushion pads are provided in the inner flank regions of at least every second link row. These cushion pads restrict inward flexion of the chain and reduce vibration of the free span regions of the chain. The cushion pads can be individual pads each associated with a link plate, or elongated pads each associated with a row of link plates. In either case, side parts protruding toward the outside of the loop formed by the chain can also restrict outward flexion of the chain.
