A friction plate for a wet-type multiplate clutch is provided with a core plate and friction linings bonded on opposite sides of the core plate, respectively. Each of the friction linings is composed of plural segment pieces each have at least one first oil groove and at least one second oil groove. The first oil groove opens to a radially-inner side of its corresponding segment piece and has a closed end portion located in a radially-intermediate part of the corresponding segment piece. The second oil groove opens to a radially-outer side of the corresponding segment piece and has a closed end portion located in another radially-intermediate part of the corresponding segment piece. Each segment piece is provided with at least one press-formed oil groove as one of the first and second oil grooves and at least one punched-out oil groove as the other one of the first and second oil grooves.

Friction plate for wet-type multiplate clutch

In a friction plate, segment piecesof a friction material are bonded onto a core plateat intervals in a circumferential direction.denotes a spline tooth. On each segment piece, there are formed a first oil groove which is made to open to an inside-diameter side of the segment piece and has its end portion part-way along the segment piece (hereinafter, referred to as a first oil groove) and a second oil groove which is made to open to an outside-diameter side of the segment piece and has its end portion part-way along the segment piece (hereinafter, referred to as a second oil groove). Segment pieces in which a first oil grooveand second oil groovesare pressure molded and segment pieces in which a first oil groovesand second oil groovesare stamped are arranged alternately.

Friction plate for wet multi-plate clutch

A friction plate for a wet-type multiplate clutch is provided with a core plate and friction linings bonded on opposite sides of the core plate, respectively. Each of the friction linings is composed of plural segment pieces each having at least one first oil groove and at least one second oil groove. The first oil groove opens to a radially-inner side of the friction plate and has a closed end portion located in a radially-intermediate part of the friction lining, and the second oil groove opens to a radially-outer side of the friction plate and has a closed end portion located in another radially-intermediate part of the friction lining. The second oil groove has an opening flared outwardly in a radial direction.

The present invention provides a friction plate having a friction surface formed by adhering a friction material to a substantially annular core plate and wherein the friction surface is provided with an oil passage communicated with inner and outer peripheral edges of the friction plate, a first oil groove having an opening portion opened to the inner peripheral edge of the friction plate and an end portion terminating at a position between the inner and outer peripheral edges, and a second first oil groove having an opening portion opened to the outer peripheral edge of the friction plate and an end portion terminating at a position between the inner and outer peripheral edges.

Friction plate and wet-type multi-plate clutch

A friction plate for a wet-type multiplate clutch is provided with a core plate and friction linings bonded on opposite sides of the core plate, respectively. Each of the friction linings is composed of plural segment pieces bonded at angular intervals on the corresponding one of said opposite sides. The segment pieces each have at least one first oil groove and at least one second oil groove. The first oil groove opens to a radially-inner side of its corresponding segment piece and has a closed end portion located in a radially-intermediate part of the corresponding segment piece, and the second oil groove opens to a radially-outer side of the corresponding segment piece and has a closed end portion located in another radially-intermediate part of the corresponding segment piece. The segment pieces are each provided in a friction surface thereof with at least one oil pocket closed at a circumference thereof.

A wet-type multiplate clutch has an outer circumferential drum section, an inner circumferential hub, a pressing member, and a clutch engagement unit composed of plural friction plates and separator plates alternately arranged between the drum section and the hub. One of mutually-contacting walls of the drum section and clutch engagement unit and one of mutually-contacting walls of the unit and pressing member are provided at their predetermined contact areas with inclinations such that, when the clutch is out of engagement, the mutually-contacting walls of the drum section and unit and the mutually-contacting walls of the unit and pressing member form wedge-shaped spaces between them, respectively, as viewed in a radially-extending, axial cross-section, said wedge-shaped spaces being gradually reduced in widths thereof toward an exterior in a radial direction and, when the clutch is in engagement, the mutually-contacting walls of the drum section and unit and the mutually-contacting walls of the unit and pressing member radially extend at right angles relative to a central axis of the wet-type multiplate clutch and are in close contact with each other, respectively.

Wet-type multiplate clutch

In a wet type multiplate clutch wherein outer tooth plates and inner tooth plates rotatable relative to each other are coaxially alternately disposed and are frictionally engaged with each other, of a plurality of oil grooves having opening portions opening to the inner peripheral edges of frictional materials secured to the inner tooth plates, at least 50 percent of the opening portions are opposed to a lubricant supply hole formed in a hub.

Wet type multiplate clutch

A friction plate is constituted by a core plate, and friction members fixed respectively to opposite surfaces of the core plate. The friction member has oil passages, extending therethrough from its inner peripheral surface to its outer peripheral surface, and oil grooves which are open to the inner peripheral surface, but do not extend through the friction member. The area ratio of the oil grooves to the oil passages is 25% to 100%; and the width of the oil groove is not larger than the width of the oil passage. The length of the oil groove is not less than 1/4 of the length of the oil passage. It is not necessary that all of the oil grooves have the same length. Preferably, the width of the oil passage, as well as the width of the oil groove, is not more than 3 mm. The oil passages and the oil grooves may be inclined relative to the radial direction.

Friction plate

The invention includes a decompression board 35 bonded on a piston 1, and bonds a friction member 40 on a surface of the decompression board, wherein an oil groove is formed on the decompression board.

Lockup clutch for torque converter

In a torque converter with a lock-up mechanism which can decrease a distribution of hydraulic pressure in the radial and circumferential directions of a frictional material, which can prevent the creation of any excess reaction by the distribution of hydraulic pressure, and which can efficiently give a fastening force to the frictional material to thereby improve transmission torque capacity, an oil groove for reducing the distribution of hydraulic pressure is provided on the frictional material or a piston. This oil groove is provided for depressurization at a location which does not hinder the fastening function.
