A monitoring apparatus includes a camera interface, a terminal interface, a communication interface, and a processor. The processor is configured to recognize actions of a settler at a point-of-sale terminal based on images from a camera, recognize input operations performed at the point-of-sale terminal by the settler based on information from the point-of-sale terminal and detect fraudulent acts based on a recognized action and a recognized input operation at the point-of-sale terminal. The processor outputs a fraud detection image corresponding to a detected fraudulent act to at least one of the point-of-sale terminal and an attendant terminal.

An information processing apparatus according to an embodiment for point-of-sale systems includes a communication interface for connecting to a communication network and a processor. The processor is configured to acquire an image of an inside of a shopping basket via the communication interface, detect a commodity in the shopping basket in the acquired image, receive a commodity identification for a registered commodity in a sales transaction, and, if the commodity identification for the registered commodity is received within a preset time period around the detection of the commodity in the shopping basket, generate a screen image by superimposing commodity information associated with the commodity identification for the registered commodity on the image of the inside of the shopping basket for enabling a user to identify the commodity in the shopping basket in conjunction with the superimposed commodity information.

A transaction data processing apparatus includes a scanning unit configured to scan a product code of a product related to a transaction, a printing unit configured to print transaction data on a sheet, a communication unit configured to transmit the transaction data to an external device over a network, and a control unit. The control unit is configured to generate the transaction data based on the scanned product code, determine whether the network is online or offline, and control the communication unit to transmit the transaction data to the external device when the network is online, and the printing unit to print the transaction data on the sheet when the network is offline.

A distributed computer system includes a central server, a computing device of a user, and point-of-sale terminals. The central server is configured to assign a global user ID to a user and store, in association with the global user ID and local user IDs. The computing device is configured to generate and display a code symbol representing at least one user ID. A point-of-sale terminal is configured to scan the displayed code symbol and code symbols of merchandise being purchased, and generate transaction information. A local server is configured to transfer the transaction information from the terminal to the central server. When the transaction information includes a local user ID, a point total of the user is updated based on the transaction information and transmitted to the computing device. The central server stores the transaction information, which is received from the local server, in association with the global user ID.

An electronic apparatus operated by a sales clerk includes a display, a camera configured to capture an image of a code displayed on a screen of a portable registration apparatus operated by a customer in a store, the code corresponding to one or more commodities to be purchased and check data indicating whether each of said one or more commodities needs to be checked by the sales clerk before being checked out, and a processor configured to, when the image of the code is captured by the camera, acquire information indicating said one or more commodities to be purchased and the check data using the code, and control the display to display a screen showing one or more commodities that need to be checked by the sales clerk based on the acquired information.

A commodity-data processing apparatus includes a housing, a printer unit mounted in the housing and movable between a housed position at which the printer unit fits in a printer housing space and a drawn-out position, and a controller. The printer unit includes a cover that is movable between a closed position and an open position when the printer unit is at the drawn-out position and not movable between the closed position and the open position when the printer unit is at the housed position. The controller is configured to determine whether the cover is moved from the open position to the closed position, determine whether or not the printer unit is ready for printing, upon determining that the cover is moved from the open position to the closed position, and enable receipt printing by the printing unit, upon determining that the printer unit is ready for printing.

Commodity-data processing apparatus

A computing device installed in or mountable to a shopping cart, includes a camera configured to capture an image, and a processor configured to acquire commodity data of a registered commodity, when an object is placed in the shopping cart, perform object recognition on an image of the object captured by the camera, and determine whether the recognized object is a commodity corresponding to the acquired commodity data, and upon determining that the recognized object is not the commodity corresponding to the acquired commodity data, issue a request for displaying a message instructing registration of the recognized object as a registered commodity.

A registration apparatus includes a scanner configured to optically read a product code from a product, a communication interface configured to communicate with one or more payment apparatuses associated with the registration apparatus, a display, and a processor. The processor is configured to control the communication interface to transmit registration data including data of one or more product codes read through the scanner for a transaction to a selected one of the one or more payment apparatuses, for processing payment for one or more products registered by the registration apparatus. According to an embodiment, a system for dynamically generating user interfaces for electronic receipts is disclosed. An electronic receipt management server receives and stores a first electronic receipt generated for a transaction made by a customer at a physical store, a customer identifier, and first additional information unique to the physical store. The server receives and stores a second electronic receipt for a transaction made by the customer at an online store, the customer identifier, and second additional information unique to the online store. The server transmits the first and second electronic receipts, the customer identifier, and the first and second additional information, in response to an inquiry containing the customer code. A client device displays a first graphical user interface including a first selectable object to view an image of the first electronic receipt and a second selectable object to view an image of the second electronic receipt.

A distributed computer system includes a central server, a computing device of a user, and point-of-sale terminals. The input apparatus receives input of merchandise information for the plurality of transactions. The input apparatus also receives an input of a user code corresponding to a service. The at least one controller generates payment information indicating a total amount to be paid for each transaction of the plurality of transactions based on the input merchandise information. The user code is applied in connection with payment processing for each of the plurality of transactions without requiring the user code to be input more than once. Payment processing is performed with respect to each of the plurality of transactions based on the corresponding payment information, in accordance with a payment operation of the single customer.

Checkout system and method

A registration apparatus stores input data. The registration apparatus outputs the stored data. A checkout apparatus receives an input relating to payment for a commodity before data input of all commodities purchased by a customer at the registration apparatus is terminated. The checkout apparatus stores data relating to the received input. The checkout apparatus generates transaction data indicating a content of one transaction based on the stored data and the data output from the registration apparatus and issues a receipt.

Checkout system

According to one embodiment, a code symbol reading unit (first reading unit) reads a barcode (code symbol) attached to a commodity from images of the commodity captured by an image control unit (imaging unit) using a first camera, a second camera, and a third camera. An electronic watermark reading unit (second reading unit) reads an electronic watermark attached to the commodity from the images. An object recognition unit (commodity recognition unit) recognizes the commodity from the images. Further, a commodity identification unit (commodity identification unit) identifies the commodity appearing in the images based on at least one of a reading result of the code symbol reading unit, a reading result of the electronic watermark reading unit, and a recognition result of the object recognition unit.
