An airbag includes a main bag section and a center bag section deployable to protrude towards a vehicle interior out of an inboard side of the main bag section. An inboard-side member, which forms the inboard side of the main bag section, is composed of a front component and a rear component. The center bag section includes a front wall and a rear wall. The front wall is composed of a rear extended region of the front component which is disposed in such a manner as to protrude rearward out of the rear edge of the front component. The rear wall is composed of a front extended region of the rear component which protrudes forward out of the front edge of the rear component and has a generally identical outer contour to the rear extended region. The center bag section is formed by jointing outer edges of the front and rear extended regions.

Airbag device for front passenger seat

An airbag device includes an airbag deployable out of a housing when fed with inflation gas, a limitation member capable of constraining a part of the airbag from unfolding and deploying, a wrapping member which wraps the airbag for keeping the folded-up configuration, and a flap member capable of covering an abnormally-seated vehicle occupant from the airbag. The limitation member has flexibility and includes a temporal holding section which holds a folded region of the airbag in a releasable fashion, a mounting section by which the limitation member is mounted on the housing and a connecting section connecting the mounting section and the temporal holding section. The temporal holding section includes a holding recess and frees the folded region via an opening of the holding recess when a periphery of the opening is deformed at airbag deployment. The flap member is disposed between the limitation member and the wrapping member.

Airbag device

An airbag apparatus includes an airbag that deploys and inflates while being unfolded from an accommodating portion, when inflating gas flows into the airbag; and a regulating member that is able to regulate the deployment and inflation of an airbag. The regulating member is flexible, and includes a temporary holding portion that releasably and temporarily holds a folded portion that is a part of the airbag; an attachment portion that is attached to the accommodating portion; and a connecting piece portion that connects the attachment portion and the temporary holding portion. The temporary holding portion includes a base portion that is continuous with the connecting piece portion, and a cover portion that forms a holding concave portion for temporarily holding the folded portion, and is connected to the base portion. An opening for releasing the folded portion is provided at an inner circumference of a non-connected release edge.

Airbag apparatus

An airbag apparatus for a front passenger's seat includes a case that includes a front storage area that has an airbag mounting plane and a rear storage area. A bottom wall of the rear storage area is located at a lower level than the airbag mounting plane of the front storage area. The airbag has a generally square conical contour whose top is disposed at the front end and includes proximate the front end a gas inlet port. The airbag is secured to the mounting plane of the case by the periphery of the gas inlet port. A lower folded-up portion that is formed by folding up a lower inflatable portion of the airbag is stored in the rear storage area of the case. The airbag apparatus further includes proximate left and right edges of an opening of the case in the rear storage area means for restraining emergence of the lower folded-up portion of the airbag from the opening of the case in an early stage of airbag deployment by holding down left and right end regions of the lower folded-up portion.

Airbag apparatus for a front passenger's seat

The airbag for a front passenger's seat includes an inner panel comprised of a pair of left and right base cloths. Each of the base cloths has a band shape curved in a generally C shape. A circumferential edge of a communication area communicating left and right shoulder restraining portions of the airbag is constituted by a joint portion joining inner edges of the respective base cloths together. The joint portion includes a corner area having a large curvature. Each of the base cloths includes a reinforcing portion at its inner edge for preventing the corner area from being so deformed as to reduce the curvature thereof upon airbag deployment.

Airbag for a front passenger's seat

An airbag for a front passenger's seat includes a left outer panel, right outer panel, left inner panel and right inner panel. The left and right outer panels are prepared as laterally symmetrical separate entities. Each of the left and right inner panels includes at the upper front end at full inflation a crossing edge that extends in a transverse direction on the airbag at full inflation. Each of the left and right outer panels includes at the upper periphery a central extended region that includes a joint edge for joint with the crossing edge of each of the inner panels. The central extended regions of the left and right outer panels are coupled together at their circumferences except the joint edges.
