A vehicle has an engine as a driving source. The vehicle has a charge system which generates electric power by using a part of rotational output of an engine, and charges a battery by the generated electric power. Optimal shaft efficiency points are combinations of revolution speed and torque of the engine for maximizing the shaft efficiency. Optimal shaft efficiency line passes through the optimal shaft efficiency points for each engine output level. Warming-up operation line is defined by shifting the optimal shaft output efficiency line to a side to increase heat loss. An engine controller stores the lines. The engine controller performs a warming-up operation by operating the engine at a revolution speed and a torque on the warming-up operation line. The engine controller controls the battery to reduce possibilities of a full charge at a next warming-up.

Apparatus for controlling engine warming-up

A control device for a hybrid vehicle includes setting unit and supplied heat amount control unit. The setting unit sets the amount of heat for heating supplied by an electric heating system and a heater core such that a battery SOC and coolant temperature are arranged at a predetermined operating point after a predetermined time. The control unit controls this amount of heat based on the setting by the setting unit. The predetermined point is an operating point, which is the closest to a line passing through a predetermined value in a battery SOC target range and a predetermined value in a coolant temperature target range and having a preset change rate, and which is settable within the predetermined time. The change rate is the same as a gradient of an approximate line in case of selection of any one engine operating point on an optimum fuel economy line.

Control device for hybrid vehicle

A control device for a hybrid vehicle includes an engine operating point setting device, a coolant temperature prediction device, a battery state-of-charge prediction device, and a determination device. The determination device determines whether an amount of heat of coolant is short or excess based on coolant temperature predicted by the coolant temperature prediction device and determines whether an amount of charge of a battery is short or excess based on SOC of the battery predicted by the battery state-of-charge prediction device. When at least one of the amount of heat and the amount of charge is short or excess as a result of the determination by the determination device, the engine operating point setting device sets an engine operating point, which is shifted in a direction to eliminate the shortage or the excess.

A request heat calculation unit calculates a request heat power requested to heat sources to supply. A heat cost calculation unit calculates a relationship between a heat power supplied from each of the heat sources and a heat cost, which is a fuel quantity consumed to supply a unit heat power. An abnormal source detection unit detects an abnormal heat source, which cannot normally supply a heat power, from the heat sources. An abnormal heat calculation unit calculates an abnormal heat power supplied from the abnormal heat source. A determination unit determines distribution of heat power supplied from the heat sources based on both the relationship and the abnormal heat power, such that a sum of the heat power supplied from the heat sources coincides with the request heat power, and the heat cost of all the heat sources is minimized.

Vehicle heat source control device and method for controlling vehicle heat source

An object of the present invention is to execute an optimum control of vibrations due to a driver's operation of an accelerator pedal, steering wheel and brake pedal. The operation instructions are inputted into a vibration calculating means (kinetic model) comprising a vehicle body model, suspension model and tire model. Conventional kinetic model controlled the suspension in order to suppress the vehicle body vibration. However, in the kinetic model of the present invention, the tire vibration due to a change in the engine output is first absorbed by the suspension, whereby a residual vibration which was not be absorbed yet by the suspension is transferred to the vehicle body. The operation inputs are compensated by the three feed-back loops between the outputs of the above-mentioned three portions and input of the tire portion, giving the highest priority on the vehicle body model.

Vibration control apparatus for automotive vehicle

Tire-uniformity components may generate a lateral force on a vehicle body, when the vehicle is in a turning movement. The lateral force may cause vibrations on the vehicle body. The controller controls a motor of an electric power steering system to modulate an assist torque acting on steerable wheels in accordance with the tire-uniformity components. The assist torque is modulated in the same direction as the lateral force. As a result, it is possible to reduce vibrations on the vehicle body, since the modulated assist torque avoids conflict with the lateral force and release the lateral force.

Apparatus for controlling vehicle

A vehicle stability control system uses a physical quantity corresponding to a driver accelerator input to control engine power produced by an engine and to controllably drive an engine load device for regulating the engine power to produce a desired drive force. The vehicle stability control system includes a vibration detector and a corrector. The vibration detector determines a vibration that occurs during running of the vehicle to disturb the stability of the vehicle. The corrector drives the engine load device to suppress the vibration in response to the vibration determined by the vibration detector.

A vehicle integration control system includes a manager controller and a driving system controller. The manager controller sets a target generation driving force guide value for a driving force outputted from a driving system of a vehicle. The driving system controller controls the driving force on the basis of the target generation driving force guide value. The manager controller includes a driver request value setter and a driving force corrector. The driver request value setter sets a driver request generation driving force value corresponding to the driving force outputted from the driving system on the basis of a driver's input. The driving force corrector corrects the driver request generation driving force value on the basis of a predetermined program to restrain vibration generated in the vehicle when the driving force outputted from the driving system.

While a driving torque TD outputted to a driving shaft via an AT from an engine is detected, a road-surface transmitting torque Td_tire is detected based on rotation speeds Vwdr, Vwdl of vehicle driving wheels, a vehicle body speed Vd, and driving torques Tdr, Tdl, all of which are previously detected. The driving torque TD and the road-surface transmitting torque Td_tire are then compared to each other. When TD&#x3e;Td_tire, the driving torque from an engine is controlled so as to decrease a value of (TD&#x2212;Td_tire). The vibrations of individual vehicle parts are thereby decreased.

Vehicle behavior estimating device and vehicle behavior controlling device

In a driving condition control system, a sensing unit is configured to sense a first physical quantity indicative of a rotation of the first rotatable axle assembly and a second physical quantity indicative of a rotation of the second rotatable axle assembly. A correcting unit is configured to correct the torque according to the sensed first and second physical quantities of the rotations of the first and second rotational axle assemblies. This allows the torque to be precisely obtained.

Driving condition control method and system

In a driving condition control system, a sensing unit senses a first physical quantity indicative of a rotation of the first rotatable axle assembly and a second physical quantity indicative of a rotation of the second rotatable axle assembly. A determining unit compares the first and second physical quantities of the rotations of the first and second rotational axle assemblies and determines whether a driving condition of the vehicle is unstable according to the compared result. As a result, the unstable condition of the vehicle can be rapidly detected without detecting a yaw moment of the vehicle.

An apparatus is provided for controlling a joint force of a friction-joint component placed in a torque transmitting mechanism (e.g., transmission) mounted on a vehicle. The friction-joint component is connected to a drive source. The apparatus comprises a guideline producing unit, joint force controlling unit, and drive force controlling unit. The guideline producing unit produces a first target operation guideline for the torque transmitting mechanism and a second target operation guideline for the drive source. The first target operation guideline includes a transmitted torque capacity of the torque transmitting mechanism. The joint force controlling unit controls the joint force based on the first target operation guideline. The controlling unit includes a unit setting a value to the joint force depending on the information regulating the transmitted torque capacity. The drive force controlling unit controls a drive force of the drive source based on the second target operation guideline.

Method and apparatus for controlling joint force of friction-joint component mounted on vehicle

In a power steering apparatus employing an EPS (electrical power steering) motor coupled to a steering mechanism, when vibration of the steering mechanism is produced by twisting of tire rubber due to changes in steering angle, resultant pulsation of the drive current of the EPS motor are suppressed by adding to the drive current a current that is of equal frequency and opposite phase to the pulsation. Vibration of the EPS motor shaft, and resultant vibration of the steering wheel and vehicle body, are thereby effectively suppressed.

Vehicle power steering apparatus capable of suppressing vibration of EPS motor during changes in steering angle

An integrated vehicle control system includes various functionalized networks, such as power train group, vehicle motion group, and power source group, each including a plurality of ECUs connected via an individual communication line. A managing ECU in each network determines operation directives to be supplied to individual ECUs belonging to its own network based on information obtained from these individual ECUs as well as information obtained from other ECUs of different networks via a host communication line L. The determined operation directives are transmitted to corresponding ECUs to cause respective individual ECUs to operate subordinately according to the given operation directives, thereby realizing a collective control of specific functions. The managing ECU also executes abnormality detection processing for detecting abnormality occurring in the integrated vehicle control system.

Integrated vehicle control system

A control system for vehicle power train components has an engine ECU, an AT ECU and a manager ECU. The manager ECU outputs command signals such as a target engine torque and a target AT range for the engine ECU and the AT ECU. The manager ECU retrieves data for completing a map for determining availability of the target engine torque from the engine ECU. The manager ECU checks the availability of a computed value of the target engine torque, and if it is necessary, the manager ECU replaces the target engine torque with an available value. The engine ECU executes an engine control process on the basis of the target engine torque of which availability has thus been ensured by the manager ECU. It is therefore possible to operate the vehicle power train components in a more appropriate manner.
