Sealed non-aqueous electrolyte cell having a casing of a sheet of laminated material

A thin type battery having a electricity generating element disposed in a sealed chamber formed by a laminated sheathing. The laminated sheathing forms the sealed chamber by overlapping and airtightly adhering opposing surfaces of the laminated films at a primary sealing area and at a secondary sealing area which is perpendicular to the direction of the primary sealing area. Collector terminals are connected to a positive electrode and to a negative electrode of the electricity generating element. The collector terminal are airtightly crimped in the secondary sealing area of the laminated sheathing. Also, the collector terminals extend outwardly of the laminated sheathing. The primary sealing part of the laminated sheathing is located over a surface of the electricity generating element.

Thin type battery with laminated sheathing

In a thin type sealed cell utilizing a cell case made of a laminated material, a storage life and reliability of the cell is increased by preventing a sectional surface at an end of the laminated material from being exposed in the cell case, and thereby a leakage of an electrolyte out of the cell and a short circuit in the cell are avoided. This is achieved by disposing a resin layer on the inner surface of the cell case composed of a sheet type laminated material, and covering the sectional surface existing inside the cell case with resin.

Thin type sealed cell and producing method thereof

A novel structure and method of manufacture gives good electrode-polyelectrolyte electrical contact and superior solid polyelectrolyte battery capacity. Solid polyelectrolyte is sandwiched between a negative electrode active layer and a positive electrode active layer. A monomer composite gel of macromolecule compound, solute, and solvent is applied onto the positive electrode active layer, part of this monomer composite gel is impregnated into the positive electrode active layer, and the system is polymerized to yield a solid polyelectrolyte-positive electrode active layer laminate.

A quick and simple manufacturing method for a current collector single body sheet-like composite positive electrode of superior electrode performance includes a positive electrode mixture generating process mixing non-aqueous solvent, polymer material, electrolyte salt, positive electrode active material and electrically conductive material, a positive electrode mixture pressing out process after the mixture has been applied onto the positive electrode current collector and a process for hardening the sheet-like electrode, at a same time attaching the sheet-like electrode to the positive electrode current collector using heat or ionizing radiation to polymerize the polymer material distributed in the mixture. An efficient manufacturing method for a polymer solid electrolyte cell of superior cell capacity and cell characteristics which uses said composite positive electrode additionally includes a process for arranging a polymer solid electrolyte precursor on a negative electrode, a process for arranging a current collector single body composite positive electrode on the electrolyte precursor on the surface of the negative electrode so that the positive and negative electrodes face each other with electrolyte precursor in-between, and a process for hardening the electrolyte precursor to form a polymer solid electrolyte film, at a same time attaching said film to the positive electrode by using heat or ionizing radiation to polymerize the polymer solid electrolyte precursor.
