A transmitter/receiver device includes: a transmitter unit including a parallel/serial converting circuit, a waveform deteriorating circuit, and a transmitter circuit; and a receiver unit including a receiver circuit, a serial/parallel converting circuit, and an error detecting circuit. The parallel/serial converting circuit converts a transmitter-side parallel signal to a transmitter-side serial signal. The waveform deteriorating circuit deteriorates a signal waveform of the transmitter-side serial signal. The transmitter circuit transmits to the receiver unit the signal whose waveform is deteriorated. The receiver circuit receives, as a receiver-side serial signal, the signal transmitted from the transmitter circuit. The serial/parallel converting circuit converts the receiver-side serial signal to a receiver-side parallel signal. The error detecting circuit detects a bit error rate of the receiver-side parallel signal.

Transmitter/receiver device that converts serial and parallel signals and method of testing thereof

An optical information recording medium which records at shorter laser wavelengths and has excellent light resistance and archival stability includes a supporting substrate and a recording layer coated on the substrate. The recording layer includes a metal chelated azo compound, the azo compound having the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X is NR.sup.6 group, oxygen or sulphur, wherein R.sup.6 is hydrogen or alkyl; Y is hydroxy, carboxy, or carbamoyl; each of R.sup.1 -R.sup.5 is independently hydrogen, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted aryl, substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl, alkoxy, amino, halogen, nitro, cyano, trifluoromethyl, or carboxy, with the proviso that all of R.sup.1 -R.sup.5 are not simultaneously hydrogen; and the metal is a metal ion of Groups 3-12 of the Periodic Table.

Optical information recording medium

An optical information recording medium is composed of a substrate, and a recording layer formed on the substrate, the recording layer including (a) a first recording layer, (b) an intermediate, and (b) a second recording layer, which are successively overlaid on the substrate, the first recording layer containing as the main component an organic dye having a peak of spectral reflectivity near the wavelength of a light beam for the recording and reproduction of information, the intermediate layer being transparent to the light beam for recording and reproduction of information, and containing a material having a refractive index smaller than the refractive index of the second recording layer, and the second recording layer containing as the main component an organic dye having a peak of spectral absorbance near the wavelength of the light beam for recording and reproduction of information, and having a thickness by which a maximum reflectivity is exhibited.
