According to one embodiment, a three-dimensional image display apparatus displays, when an event of requesting a check of a viewing position occurs, a three-dimensional image for testing, by displaying on the display a three-dimensional display image which is obtained by using a left-eye image and a right-eye image included in the three-dimensional still image data for testing in a storage device. The three-dimensional image for testing includes such a first image that when the three-dimensional image for testing is viewed from a predetermined viewing area, stereoscopic images of a plurality of vertical rods disposed at different depth positions are perceived.

Three-dimensional image display apparatus and viewing position check method

An analog-to-digital converter converts a video signal into a digital video signal consisting of N bits and outputs the converted signal. A correction value memory stores correction data consisting of M bits which is used to correct the difference in luminance between display pixels on a display. A multiplier multiplies the video signal consisting of N bits output from the analog-to-digital converter by the correction data consisting of M bits stored in the correction value memory, and outputs a video signal consisting of L bits with which the difference in luminance between display pixels on the display is corrected.

Video display apparatus for correcting luminance difference between display pixels

A drive signal generation circuit which performs gradation control on a load by a drive signal having a stepped waveform. In a case where the wave height value corresponding to input gradation data is Vm (2&#x2266;m&#x2266;n), the drive signal is caused to rise in such a manner that each output Vk (2&#x2266;k&#x2266;m) is produced one slot after the output V(k&#x2212;1) to increase the wave height value V(reference potential) to Vm in a stepping manner. One slot corresponds to a unit time of the pulse width modulation. The drive signal is caused to fall in such a manner that each output V(k&#x2212;1) (1&#x2266;k&#x2266;m&#x2212;1) is produced one or two slots after the output Vk to reduce the wave height value from Vm to off level in a stepping manner. A delay circuit is used to delay signals slot by slot. A selection is made from delayed signals according to luminance data to determine a waveform. The circuit is also designed to enable the drive signal waveform rise position to be changed.

Drive signal generator and image display apparatus

A matrix display apparatus having a display panel device provided with a plurality of data-lines, a plurality of scan-lines which are arranged in a matrix and a controller for controlling the display panel device, wherein the controller generates a write instruction signal (i) for instructing the (a&times;n&plus;b)-th scanning line image signal of the first field image signal to be written on adjoining two scan-lines (a and b are constants, a>b, n is a zero or a positive integer), (ii) for instructing the other scanning line image signals of the first field image signal to be written on one of the scan-lines, (iii) for instructing the (a&times;n&plus;c)-th scanning line image signal of the second field image signal to be written on adjoining two scan-lines (c is a constant, a>c) and (iv) for instructing the other scanning line image signals of the second field image signal to be written on one of the scan-lines.

Matrix display apparatus

A micro-lens array sheet having a wide field angle, a field angle control, a high light efficiency, a high brightness and a high contrast, which is provided with a layer of micro-lenses each shaped to be a centro-symmetry convex or concave micro-lens. A layer of either a light diffusion sheet or a sheet filled with light diffusive agent is attached on a light transmitting side of the micro-lens array sheet. The micro-lenses are aligned in a diamond grid array or an array including a combination of diamond-shape and hexagonal-shape micro-lens blocks.

NTSC convergence adjusting data corresponding to a plurality of portions on a display screen is stored in a data storage section in advance. Convergence adjusting data is stored in a field memory in a NTSC scanning mode. Adjusting data transferred to the memory is supplied to a vertical interpolation circuit, and interpolation adjusting data between the adjusting points is created using the plurality of adjusting data and interpolation coefficients. Data output from the vertical interpolation circuit is A/D-converted, and supplied to a deflection coil through a low pass filter as a convergence correction signal. In a scanning mode, convergence adjusting data is created with use of NTSC convergence adjusting data by a control microcomputer so as to be stored in the frame memory.

Digital convergence apparatus

A field memory stores convergence adjusting data which corresponds to a plurality of points on a display screen. An interpolation calculation circuit creates interpolation convergence adjusting data for correction points located between adjacent adjusting points, using a plurality of adjusting data items and interpolation coefficients. The output of the interpolation calculation circuit is subjected to digital/analog conversion and passed through a low-pass filter, thereby forming a convergence correction signal. This correction signal is supplied to each deflection coil. At the time of creating interpolation adjusting data for a point located between adjusting points, an optimal interpolation coefficient is output from a ROM or a ROM, depending upon whether the point is included in the odd or even field.

A liquid crystal display system includes a liquid crystal display having liquid crystal pixel elements arranged in a matrix; data lines for driving pixel columns and scanning signal lines for driving pixel rows. The system has a circuit for supplying video signal to pixels through data lines and a scanning signal line controller for supplying a progressive scanning signal to the scanning signal lines. The data lines are driven by four sample-hold circuits. The first sample-hold circuit samples and holds video signals for pixels corresponding to odd rows on a first side of the screen and supplies them to data lines corresponding to the first side on the screen based on a first output directing signal. A second sample-hold circuit samples and holds video signals for pixels corresponding to even rows on the first side of the screen and supplies them to data lines corresponding to the first side on the screen based on a second output directing signal. A third sample-hold circuit samples and holds video signals for pixels corresponding to odd rows on a second side of the screen and supplies them to data lines corresponding to the second side on the screen based on a third output directing signal. A fourth sample-hold circuit samples and holds video signals for pixels corresponding to even rows on the second side of the screen and supplies them to data lines corresponding to the second side on the screen based on a fourth output directing signal.

Liquid crystal display driving system

A display apparatus includes a light source, a modulating device for modulating light emitted from the light source, a modulating device driving unit for driving the modulating device, a first aperture stop unit arranged between the light source and the modulating device to limit a bundle of rays to be incident on the modulating device from the light source, the first aperture stop unit having an aperture with a variable size, a display screen onto which exit light from the modulating device is projected, a projection optical system for projecting the exit light from the modulating device onto the display screen, a second aperture stop unit arranged between the modulating device and the projection optical system to limit a bundle of rays to be incident on the projection optical system from the modulating device, the second aperture stop unit having an aperture with a variable size, a photosensor for detecting the display luminance on the display screen, and an aperture control unit for controlling the size of the aperture of at least one of the first and second aperture stop units on the basis of a display luminance signal from the photosensor.

Display apparatus

A digital convergence apparatus using two different kinds of data to correct the convergence of odd and even scanning lines, respectively. A first memory stores data for the convergence correction corresponding to plural correction executing points aligned in the horizontal or vertical direction of a screen. A first static convergence data memory stores a first static convergence correction data for correcting the entire screen in the same direction, a second static convergence data memory stores a second static convergence correction data different from the first static convergence correction data only by an amount corresponding to the distance between the scanning lines. Selecting means select the output of the first or the second static convergence data memory according to the odd field period or the even field period. Adding means add the output of the selecting means to the data stored in the first memory. Vertical interpolating means interpolate the output of the adding means in the vertical direction, and a convergence correction coil corrects the convergence based on the output of the adding means.

A memory control apparatus for a CRT controller in which the same data from a data input circuit is loaded into a plurality of addresses of a buffer memory for storing drawing data, the address of the buffer memory being automatically updated. X- and Y- address generators update address data in response to pulses from X- and Y-axis pulse generators. A microprocessor supplies to a register the width of the X and Y thickness of an address to be updated, coordinate data representing a write start point to the address generators, and the drawing data to be written to a data input circuit. The memory can then be updated in units specified by the X and Y thickness of the picture element.
