The present invention has an objective to easily obtain an emulsion exhibiting superior storage stability, and in particular, an emulsion of a polyorganosiloxane. The present invention provides a method for producing an emulsion characterized by obtaining an emulsion by emulsifying a mixture of an oil and a surfactant, obtained by synthesizing the surfactant in the oil. In particular, the method is suitably used for the preparation of an emulsion of an organopolysiloxane (A) which is usually difficult to be stably emulsified. A silicone-based surfactant (B), and in particular, a silicone-based surfactant having a small degree of polymerization of a siloxane chain such as a trisiloxane is synthesized in an oil. Thereby, an emulsion exhibiting superior storage stability can be produced.

An oil-in-water silicone emulsion composition comprising (A) 100 mass parts of a polyorganosiloxane that contains in each molecule at least two silicon-bonded hydroxyl or hydrolyzable groups, (B) 0.1 to 200 mass parts of a colloidal silica, (C) 1 to 100 mass parts of an ionic emulsifying agent, (D) 0.1 to 50 mass parts of a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene copolymer-type nonionic emulsifying agent, and (E) 10 to 200 mass parts water. Such oil-in-water silicone emulsion composition exhibits an excellent storage stability, contains little low molecular weight silicone, and can form, even without the use of a tin catalyst, a cured film that exhibits a satisfactory elasticity, through the removal of the water fraction.

An organic silicon compound emulsion for quickly imparting excellent water-repellent properties to the surfaces of porous inorganic base materials such as concrete, mortar, and masonry. The emulsion is prepared by the steps of emulsifying a mixture consisting of (A) an organoalkoxysilane, (B) an organopolysiloxane having in its molecule at least 2 alkoxy groups or hydroxyl groups bonded to a silicon atom, (C) an anionic emulsifying agent, and (D) water, and heat aging the emulsion at a temperature below 100&deg; C. In another embodiment, the method comprises the steps emulsifying a mixture of the components (A) to (D) and adding an acidic or alkaline substance to the emulsion. In a third embodiment, the method comprises the steps of forming a mixture consisting of the components (A) to (D), adding an acidic or alkaline substance thereto, and performing the emulsification thereafter.

Method for preparing organic silicon compound emulsion

A parting agent for a copier toner is disclosed. The parting agent exhibits no loss of parting properties or generation of gel under high-temperature conditions near 200&deg; C., and causes no problems with paper feed or the like. The parting agent is composed of a diorganopolysiloxane of the average unit formula: R,SiO,, where the R groups are the same or different and are substituted or unsubstituted monovalent hydrocarbon groups, with at least 50 mol % of the R groups being methyl groups, and 1.95 &lE;a&lE;2.20. The diorganopolysiloxane has a viscosity of 10 to 100,000 centistokes at 25&deg; C., and generates no more than 5 ppm (by weight) of formaldehyde per hour when kept at 200&deg; C. in an air atmosphere.

It also provides the paper with a superior softness. The water-based treatment agent consists of a silicone oil emulsion in which crosslinked silicone particles with a mean particle size of 0.01-100 &mgr;m are contained in silicone oil droplets with a mean particle size of 0.05-500 &mgr;m, which are dispersed in water. The particle size of the crosslinked silicone particles is smaller than the particle size of the silicone oil droplets.
