To prevent a reduction in load resistance of a liquid crystal panel which is caused along with a reduction in thickness thereof, tempered glass is entirely bonded to both of front and back surfaces or one of the surfaces of the liquid crystal panel using an optical adhesive, and an amount of warp by which the liquid crystal panel alone is broken due to a pressure is set equal to or larger than that in a case of the tempered glass.

Display device

In a manufacturing method for a liquid crystal display device, a translucent first adhesive is placed between a first surface of a substrate and a display surface of a liquid crystal panel so that the first adhesive covers the entire surface of the liquid crystal panel. The first adhesive is cured to bond the substrate and the liquid crystal panel. The bonded substrate and liquid crystal panel are positionally aligned relative to a backlight unit. A second adhesive is placed between the substrate and the backlight unit so that the second adhesive surrounds an outer peripheral end portion of the liquid crystal panel. The first adhesive is cured to integrally bond the substrate, liquid crystal panel, and backlight unit to each other.

Liquid crystal display device, and manufacturing method for the liquid crystal display device

A display device includes a display panel having first and second opposing glass substrates forming a display surface, a transparent member, a first adhesive material bonding the transparent member to the entire display surface of the display panel, and a plate-like member disposed on a rear side of and supporting the display panel. A second adhesive material different from the first adhesive material is disposed between a rear surface of the transparent member and a front surface of the plate-like member so as to fixedly bond the transparent member and the plate-like member to one another.

Air bubbles or foreign objects in a transparent adhesive layer that bonds a transparent plate and a plate-like member together in full-surface contact are detected without fail. For the detection, an optical fiber or the like is used to irradiate the adhesive layer with light from a side, the cast light is guided through the adhesive layer, and a state of the adhesive layer is checked with the guided light. A check that discriminates defects in the adhesive layer from defects in the bonded transparent plate is thus made possible.

Bonding method and method of manufacturing a display device

A display device has a first color display panel having multi-color pixels formed of two groups of electrodes corresponding to signal electrodes and scanning electrodes. A second display panel has single-color pixels formed of two groups of electrodes corresponding to signal electrodes and scanning electrodes. The number of the signal electrodes of the second display panel are fewer in number than the signal electrodes of the first color display panel. A driver integrated circuit outputs driving signals shared commonly by and supplied to the signal and scanning electrodes of the first and second display panels. The driving signals output from the driver integrated circuit are supplied to the signal electrodes of the second display panel in only one color from among the colors of the multi-color pixels of the first display panel.

A display device of the present invention switches between two displays, a main panel display and a sub-panel display, by using one driver IC. Liquid crystals having different optimal driver voltages are used in the main panel and the sub-panel, and the optimal driver voltage for the panel in which display is to be performed is output. A driver voltage that is higher or lower than the optimal driver voltage is applied to the display panel where display is not to be performed, and the entire display thereof displays a single color. Display content of the panel on which display is not to be performed cannot be identified.

Display device and electronic device using the same

A display device has a first flexible substrate having a connection terminal and a driver integrated circuit for supplying driving signals. A second flexible substrate is connected to the connection terminal of the first flexible substrate. A pair of display panels are connected to the respective first and second flexible substrates for sharing driving signals supplied by the driver integrated circuit to drive the display panels.

In a method of manufacturing an electric device, moisture in a film substrate is reduced by heating the film substrate at a temperature in the range of 80&#xb0; C. to 100&#xb0; C. Thereafter, an IC is mounted on the film substrate.

Method of manufacturing electric device

An electronic device comprises an IC provided with an array of pads a preselected number of which define inspection pads of the IC. A substrate has inspection patterns and is mounted on the IC so that each inspection pad is brought into contact with a corresponding inspection pattern to thereby enable electrical inspection of a mounting condition of the IC on the substrate. A pair of inspection lands is provided on the substrate and connected to some of the inspection patterns. The inspection pads and the inspection patterns are connected by wiring provided on the IC or on the substrate so that the inspection lands are electrically connected to each other when the IC is mounted on the substrate. A centerline of at least one of the inspection patterns is offset in position from a centerline of the corresponding inspection pad in width directions of the inspection pattern and the inspection pad.

Electronic device

A fingerprint reading system is provided, which is capable of enhancing versatility when actually used, increasing productivity and reducing costs. An illumination device emits the light from a rear surface side of an active matrix liquid crystal cell. A light guiding plate provided on a surface side of the active matrix liquid crystal cell, transmits the light coming from the rear surface side and deflects the light coming from the surface side toward one side end surface. A light receiving device provided on the side of one side surface of the light guiding plate receives the light exiting from this one side surface. A drive circuit makes the active matrix liquid crystal cell pinpoint-irradiate a fingerprint in contact with the light guiding plate by pinpointing with the light emitted from the illumination device and makes the light receiving device pinpoint-receive the light reflected by the fingerpoint, thereby obtaining an image of the fingerprint.

Fingerprint reading device and method thereof

An electronic circuit device has an insulating substrate and an integrated circuit having a surface disposed opposite to and confronting a surface of the insulating substrate to form a gap therebetween. An adhesive material is disposed in the gap between the insulating substrate and the integrated circuit. Bumps project from the surface of the integrated circuit towards the surface of the insulating substrate. Electrode patterns are electrically connected to the bumps to electrically connect the integrated circuit to the electrode patterns. An adhesion-reinforcing pattern is spaced-apart from and surrounded by the electrode patterns. The adhesion-reinforcing pattern is disposed on a portion of the surface of the insulating substrate confronting a portion of the surface of the integrated circuit from which the bumps do not project.

A fingerprint reading system is provided with enhanced versatility and reduced cost. The fingerprint reading sensor includes a group of first electrodes arranged in a plurality of lines extending in a first direction, a group of second electrodes arranged in a plurality of lines extending in a second direction intersecting the first direction above the first electrode group through an interlayer insulating film, and a surface protective film formed of a dielectric material provided on the second electrode group. Drive circuits detect electrostatic capacity between each of the electrodes and a finger touching the surface protective film by sequentially applying a predetermined voltage to both groups of electrodes and measuring a change in the electrostatic capacity at each point where a second electrode crosses over a first electrode.

A fingerprint reading device is provided, which is capable of enhancing a versatility when actually used, increasing a productivity and reducing costs. The fingerprint reading device comprises an electrostatic capacity type fingerprint reading sensor provided on a liquid crystal panel, and drive circuits thereof. The fingerprint reading sensor includes detection electrodes arranged in predetermined positions, active elements connected respectively to the detection electrodes, and a protective film provided on the surface thereof.

Fingerprint reading device

A display unit comprises a transparent touch switch and a liquid crystal display having a display surface. At least an input area of the transparent touch switch is laminated to the display surface of the liquid crystal display by clear adhesive. The clear adhesive has a permeability after hardening which is close to the permeability of the liquid crystal display and the transparent touch switch. Clear fillers are disposed in the clear adhesive to prevent warping of the transparent touch switch and the liquid crystal display.

Display unit, manufacturing method thereof and electronic device equipped with same

To make a display device compact and to provide an inexpensive, simple-structured display device. A structure where a terminal tip portion of a COF substrate is held folded down with a spacer sandwiched therebetween and is connected with a display element. A single COF is connected with a plurality of sides of the display element.
