A friction stir welding member is formed by welding a second member to a first member in such a manner that a second member is stacked on a first member, a material property of the second member being different from a material property of the first member, a pin of a welding tool using a Friction Stir Welding technique is inserted into the second member, welding is started at one end of the second member, and the pin is pulled out at a welding terminal portion before the pin reaches the other end of the second member. A projection projecting toward the welding tool is provided integrally with the second member, the projection is formed so as to have a height that is higher than a length of the pin, and the projection is provided with the welding terminal portion.

Friction stir welding member

A replacement device of a processing apparatus includes a gripping device having a single first support member positionally fixed, a first gripping portion provided on the first support member to grip a holder not to rotate in a releasing direction when the processing member is removed from the holder, and a second gripping portion provided on the first support member apart from the first gripping portion to grip the holder not to rotate in a restricting direction when the processing member is attached to the holder, and a holding device having a single movable second support member, plural first holding portions provided on the second support member to respectively accommodate the processing member removed from the holder, and plural second holding portions provided on the second support member apart from the first holding portions to respectively accommodate the processing member that is to be attached to the holder.

Processing apparatus

A joined heterogeneous material includes a carbon steel material and an aluminum material which have been joined via friction-stir welding. The region of a weld zone with a low lift-up amount in a plastic flow area created during friction-stir welding is located on one side of the aluminum material with respect to the weld zone, created by a welding probe. The region of the weld zone with a high plastic flow area lift-up amount is located on the other side of the aluminum material.

In a friction stir welding apparatus that can control a penetrating position of a probe with respect to a processing target member to an optimum position at a time of friction stir welding by detecting a wear volume and a tip position of the probe, as a drive mechanism moves down a holder having a coefficient of thermal expansion larger than that of the probe and holding the probe, a detector can freely detect a length of a member including the holder and the probe, and a probe detection mechanism can freely detect a tip length, which is the length of the member of only the probe.

Friction stir welding apparatus

Friction stir welding is performed in the following manner. In the state in which a probe is rotated in a predetermined rotation direction, the probe is inserted into a flange of a rear sub frame, thereby starting friction stir welding to weld the flange of the rear sub frame and a flange of a front sub frame positioned on the inner side of the rear side of a vehicle. The probe is sequentially moved along the direction of arrow R1&#x2192;arrow R2 (predetermined direction). When the probe reaches the end point of the direction indicated by arrow R2, the probe is inserted into the flange on the outer side across a protruding portion disposed between the flanges. Then, the probe is sequentially moved in the direction of arrow R4&#x2192;arrow R5&#x2192;arrow R6, which is opposite to the direction of arrow R1&#x2192;arrow R2.

Dissimilar-material welded structure and welding method therefor

A friction stir welding apparatus includes a displacement detecting device that detects displacement of a welding tool caused by deformation of a fitting jig, at the time of performing friction stir welding in which an arm to which the fitting jig fitted with the welding tool is fixed is moved to move the welding tool with respect to the processing target member. The fitting jig can be deformed more than the arm at the time of performing friction stir welding. The displacement detecting device has a displacement sensor fixed to the welding tool, and a reference member fixed to a fixing portion between the fitting jig and the arm to provide a reference position for detecting the displacement to the displacement sensor.

Disclosed is a friction-stir joining method for joining a first member, having a base metal covered with a substance different from the base metal, with a second member with the second member placed on the first member by moving a joining tool along a joining line having thereon a joining start point and a joining finish point. The method includes steps of: inserting the joining tool into the second member at the joining start point; moving the joining tool a predetermined distance along the joining line in a direction opposite the joining finish point; causing the joining tool to turn back at a turning-back point spaced the predetermined distance from the joining start point; moving the joining tool along the joining line to the joining finish point past the joining start point; and pulling the joining tool out from the second member at the joining finish point.

Friction-stir joining method

A method for producing a hemmed joint structure having a second member placed on a first member and an edge of the first member bent over the second member to join the two members with each other. In this method, there is provided an flange part jutting out from an edge of the first member. The flange part is disposed at a position where the flange part, when bent, does not overlap an adhesive layer between the first member and the second member. Since the adhesive layer is set apart from the flange part, even when the flange part is subjected to friction stir bonding, the resultant frictional heat will not affect the adhesive layer.

Method for producing hemmed joint structure

A friction stir welding apparatus includes a rotary tool for friction stir welding, a spindle motor of a rotational driving unit for rotationally driving the rotary tool when the rotary tool is mounted on the rotational driving unit, a servo motor of a press driving unit for pressing the shank of the rotary tool against the surface of a portion to be butt welded when the rotational driving unit is mounted on the press driving unit, a mount bracket for supporting the press driving unit, a pressure sensor for detecting a pressing force exerted on the surface of the portion to be butt welded by the shank, and a control unit for controlling the driving of the servo motor such that the pressing force falls within a predetermined range based on a detection signal sent from the pressure sensor.

A sensor comprises a linear region (variable region) in which the output voltage is changed in proportion to the accelerator opening degree, and a stepped region (invariable region) in which the output voltage is not changed with respect to the accelerator opening degree. A resistor electrode for constructing the sensor is formed by laminating a resistor composed of a resistance substance on a base plate in a linear section corresponding to the linear region. In a stepped section corresponding to the stepped region, the resistor electrode is formed by laminating the resistor on a conductive layer composed of a conductive substance formed on the base plate.

Accelerator opening degree sensor

A shift lever device for use with an automatic transmission includes a shift lever reversibly movable from a parking position to a selected one of a plurality of gear range positions, a lock member for locking the shift lever against movement from the parking position, an actuator for actuating the lock member to release the shift lever which has been locked in the parking position by the lock member, and a release member operable for actuating the lock member to release the shift lever independently of the actuator. The release member is operable manually by a key which may be an ignition key to an automotive vehicle on which the automatic transmission is mounted.
