When power is turned 'ON', power starts to be supplied to a reading unit and a display unit so that images stored in a storage unit can be displayed, and when the images are instructed to be displayed, a viewing system screen is displayed. The power starts to be supplied to an image forming mechanism at a timing when an instruction for switching the viewing system screen to a formation screen, and when an instruction for forming the image being displayed on the formation screen is provided, the image is formed by the image forming mechanism. In this manner, it is possible to prevent wasteful power consumption caused when the power is supplied to the image forming mechanism while the image is displayed on the viewing system screen.

Image forming apparatus

A liquid discharging apparatus discharges liquid onto a target, thereby forming dots. The apparatus includes a discharge head, a capping unit for moisturizing, a lifting and lowering unit, and a lid member. The discharge head has a discharge surface from which liquid is discharged. The capping unit is disposed substantially just below the discharge head when the discharge head is located at a predetermined reference position. The capping unit has an opening that comes into contact with the discharge head and seals the discharge surface. The lifting and lowering unit lifts and lowers the capping unit, thereby bringing the capping unit into contact with the discharge head and taking the capping unit out of contact with the discharge head. The lid member rotates around a rotating shaft using the lifting and lowering of the capping unit, thereby opening and closing the opening of the capping unit.

Liquid discharging apparatus

When the number of sheets that have been printed has reached the number of sheets guaranteed for printing, a number representing a upper limit of the number of sheets that can be printed, an ink jet printer declines to perform printing with an ink cartridge for which the number of sheets guaranteed for printing has been set, but when the number of sheets printed has not reached the number of sheets guaranteed for printing, performs printing of an image onto a recording sheet S by using the ink cartridge, the ink jet printer determining the number of sheets remaining N on the basis of the number of sheets printed that have been printed, and displaying on a display unitthe number of sheets remaining information display screenincorporating a number of sheets remaining display unitthat causes visual recognition of a relation between the number of sheets guaranteed for printing and the number of sheets remaining.
