In an electronic mail associated type computer system network equipped with a computer system for executing a job and a general-purpose electronic mail system, a user of an electronic mail can freely recognize a condition of an execution result of a job performed in the computer system and a job execution result. Also, these results are available from a desired output device for the user. When a mail processing unit employed in the computer system analyzes a mail statement about the job execution derived from the electronic mail system, and the job execution is completed, this mail processing unit sends to the electronic mail system, such a mail statement for the completion of the job execution containing information about fail/safe execution result. Upon receipt of this report, the user designates the output device into a response mail so as to output the job execution result from the designated output device.

Computer system and job transfer method using electronic mail system

A job execution prediction control method and apparatus in a computer system having a CPU. Information on processing amounts of a plurality of parallelly executed jobs is collected during execution of the respective jobs. Predicted execution end times of the respective jobs are calculated on the basis of the collected information. Subsequent processing speeds of the respective jobs are controlled on the basis of the predicted execution end times calculated for the respective jobs and target execution end times of the respective jobs.

Method and apparatus for job execution prediction and control and method

A virtual machine system has a processor operating as a base machine which includes a plurality of groups of registers, such as data registers, address registers and instruction address registers which are selected according to identification data identifying individual virtual machines. A respective group of registers is allotted to each virtual machine and to the virtual machine monitor in the system. A status register file is provided to effect selective access to a respective one of a plurality of status registers in the system in accordance with a virtual machine number. An interrupt processing portion is provided comparing the value of an interrupt mask level of the status word of a corresponding virtual machine with an externally generated interrupt level to control interrupt processing.
