Managing the use of an optical disc drive by a program at high security. An OS of a host apparatussends one user certificate incorporating the policy information defining the use contents permissible for the optical disc driveand a user key to the optical disc driveunder a secure environment (S). On the other hand, the program running on the OS is authorized, and the user key is passed to the authorized program (S). The optical disc driveauthorizes the program using the user key within the user certificate and the user key for the program and specifies the policy information corresponding to the user key (S). Thereafter, the optical disc drivepermits the application program to gain access to the self-resource within the limits of the contents defined in the policy information (S).

Use management method for peripheral device, electronic system and component device thereof

There are provided a multisystem network, and a device and method for access to a data storage unit in order to allow processors in a plurality of devices to access the data storage unit. The data storage unit has a data storage area divided in a first area for a first device and a second area for a second device. The first and second devices are connected to the data storage unit via a connection circuit. A first processor in the first device can access directly the data storage unit. The connection circuit has provided therein an emulation register corresponding to a register which stores a command or control data used for the first processor in the first device to access the data storage unit. A second processor in the second device accesses the data storage unit via the emulation register and with intervention of the first processor.

Multisystem network, and device and method for access to data storage

An ID (MID) is attached to each individual optical disk, and content is encrypted with a Content-Key and registered. In addition, a system server device maintains a Client ID of a client terminal device, HDD-ID of a hard disk drive (HDD), and MC-ID of a memory card respectively held as user entry information. When the user wants to copy the content, together with the optical disk MID, the MC-ID is sent to the system server side. The system server device identifies the user by referencing the MC-ID in the user entry information, and returns a Content-Key, which is used when encoding content. On the user side, content stored in the optical disk is decrypted using the returned Content-Key and copied to the HDD. Accordingly, copying of content is allowed only for an authorized user who is the lawful owner of the storage media.

Computer program copy management system

In case of decoding by a software process, in the process, video data of a decoded frame corresponding to a management ID stored at the head of an output FIFOat its time point is read out and outputted. In the process, audio data is decoded. In the process, the video data is decoded. The decoded video data is stored in a video frame buffer and its management ID is stored in the output FIFOin the outputting order. When the processcannot be finished, the processis interrupted during the process and the image of the frame stored at the head of the output FIFOis outputted. After that, when the processis finished, the decoding process of the processwhich was temporarily interrupted is restarted. In case of performing the encoding by the software process, an encoding amount of the video data as a processing target of the encoding is predicted. Subsequently, whether an empty capacity enough to store the data of the predicted encoding amount exists in a code buffer or not is discriminated. If it is determined that there is the empty capacity, the encoding is started and the video data in which the encoding was finished is deleted from the video frame buffer. The encoding is temporarily interrupted when a reading process or the like of the video data is performed.

Digital signal processing apparatus and method and providing medium

An electronic device connection cable includes a transmission part including 18 high-speed signal lines, 20 ground lines, and 22 low-speed signal lines. The electronic device connection cable further includes a tube-shaped sheath within which the transmission part is disposed such that the surface of the transmission part is covered with the sheath. The transmission part includes a first layer disposed at an outermost location, a second layer which is radially inwardly adjacent to the first layer, and a third layer which is radially inwardly adjacent to the second layer. In the first layer, 12 high-speed signal lines and 12 ground lines are alternately disposed. In the third layer, the remaining 6 high-speed signal lines and 6 ground lines are alternately disposed. In this structure, any two high-speed signal lines are not disposed at directly adjacent locations, and thus it is ensured that data can be transferred in a highly reliable fashion without being significantly influenced by noise.
