In accordance with the musical performance by the player, a musical keyboard and an associated processor generate note command signals indicative of note pitches of the tones to be produced in response to which keys are depressed and intensity signals indicative of intensities of the tones to be produced in response to how strong the keys are depressed. A tone generator generates tone signals having pitches and intensities as determined by the note command signals and the intensity signals. A judger judges whether the intensity signals are greater than a predetermined threshold value. When the judgment is affirmative, an additive note designator generates additive note designating signals indicative of note pitches of the tones to be produced in addition to the tones produced as commanded by the depressed key, in which each additive note pitch has a harmonious relation to the corresponding key-commanded note pitch. The tone generator further generates additive tone signals having pitches designated by the additive note designating signals. An alternative detector judges whether the depressed key is a chord constituent note of the chord for the musical performance at that moment.

Apparatus and method for generating additive notes to commanded notes

Performance data memory may be a conventional automatic performance memory which store plural kinds of automatic performance data such as song data for achieving an automatic melody performance and pattern data for achieving an automatic accompaniment. Designation information is set optionally which designates at least part of desired automatic performance data. Further, a custom performance data memory is provided for storing the designation information in combination in desired order. The designation information is sequentially read out from the custom performance data memory, and at least part of the automatic performance data designated by the designation information is read out from the performance data memory. Thus, an automatic performance in which at least parts of plural sets of the automatic performance data are sequentially combined is provided as a custom performance. Chord is detected on the basis of performance data for each of plural sections of a music piece, and the song performance data is converted to relative data in accordance with the detected data. For a reproductive performance, a desired chord is designated, the relative song performance data is reconverted in accordance with the designated chord, and tone is reproductively generated on the basis of the reconverted performance data.

Automatic performance device capable of making custom performance data

A performance data editing apparatus wherein chords in performance data of a musical tune applied from an external memory element or performance apparatus are detected and normalized into a predetermined tone scale on a basis of their respective types and roots, the musical tune including a plurality of performance parts at least one of which represents the chords indicative of a musical progression having a performance pattern, and wherein the normalized chords are converted on a basis of chords designated to be performed-for production of a desired accompaniment data, thereby to produce edited chords indicative of a progression of the designated chords in the performance pattern.

Performance data editing apparatus

An electronic musical instrument comprises a panel memory for storing panel setting data for controlling the present operation of the electronic musical instrument, panel switches for changing the values of the data stored in the panel memory, and registration memories for storing the data changed by the panel switches. A YES switch of the panel switches is provided to designate part of the panel setting data, and registration memory-designating switches to instruct to load the data stored in the registration memories into the panel memory. A CPU selectively reads out data other than the part of data designated by the YES switch, from among the panel setting data stored in a selected one of the second memory, based on the command issued by the registration memory-designating switches, and rewrites corresponding data stored in the panel memory by the data read out. A cursor switch is operated to change the range of the part of data designated by the YES switch.

Electronic musical instrument

An electronic musical instrument with an automatic accompaniment function has a plurality of registration data corresponding to an accompaniment patterns, and a registration can be selected from the plurality of registration data corresponding to the selected and designated accompaniment pattern. The registration data represents a set of data such as the tone color, tone volume, effect, and the like of musical tones, for defining a performance environment. A plurality of accompaniment patterns are prepared for each style. When an accompaniment pattern is changed, the registration is changed in correspondence with the changed accompaniment pattern. Furthermore, when an accompaniment pattern is changed between different pattern groups, the registration is changed. When an accompaniment pattern is changed in one pattern group, the registration is left unchanged. The pattern group is a group of a plurality of similar accompaniment patterns.

Electronic musical instrument using a plurality of registration data

Tempo information representing a performance tempo set at start of an automatic performance is stored in a first register. A tempo restoration switch is provided for reading out the tempo information from the first register and setting the tempo of the automatic performance by this tempo information. Even when the performance tempo is changed freely during the automatic performance, the tempo at the start of the automatic performance can be restored automatically by operating the tempo restoration switch. Tempo information representing a performance tempo set before start of tempo changing may be stored in a second register. A second tempo restoration switch may be provided for reading out the tempo information from this second register and setting the tempo of the autoamtic performance by this tempo information. Even when the performance tempo is changed freely during the automatic performance, the tempo before start of the tempo changing can be restored automatically by operating the second tempo restoration switch. Control of tempo primo and a tempo is thereby facilitated.

An automatic accompaniment device equipped with a CPU that controls, via a bus, a ROM that stores a plurality of rhythm patterns including introduction patterns, fill-in patterns and normal patterns. The device also includes a sound source circuit that generates musical sounds based on rhythm pattern data that is supplied after being selected by switches on an operation panel. In operation, the performer selects an introduction pattern to begin the automatic accompaniment. If the performer desires a shorter introduction, the performer activates a switch on the operation panel that causes a fill-in pattern to begin at a musically natural point in the introduction pattern. The fill-in pattern is shorter than the introduction pattern and provides a musically natural and smooth transition to the normal pattern. Thus, it is possible to end an introduction pattern at an optional point without imparting a musically unnatural quality to the automatic accompaniment.

Automatic accompaniment device with variable music introduction pattern

Respecting plural accompaniment patterns belonging to a common accompaniment style, an order is predetermined in which accompaniment patterns are sequentially changed. For example, this order may be predetermined to be an order in which a change of the accompaniment patterns can accomplish a more natural change in an accompaniment tone. Data indicative of a performance state on a keyboard is compared with a predetermined reference value. Whenever a comparison condition is satisfied, change of the accompaniment patterns is effected in the predetermined order. Data related to a changed-over accompaniment pattern is read out from a memory, based on which data an automatic accompaniment tone is generated. There may be a plurality of the predetermined orders. One order may be such that the accompaniment patterns are changed to allow an automatic accompaniment tone to achieve a progressively flourishing mood and another order may be such that brings an effect opposite to that achieved by the one order. Selection may be automatically made of the orders on the basis of a changing trend of the keyboard performance state.

Automatic accompaniment playing device for use in an electronic musical

Plural normal pattern data, plural introduction pattern data, plural fill-in pattern data and plural ending pattern data for each of various accompaniment styles such as march, waltz and rock are stored in a memory. Relation of correspondence among these pattern data is predetermined and, at transfer from one pattern to another such as transfer from a certain introduction pattern to a normal pattern, transfer from a certain normal pattern to a fill-in pattern, transfer back from the fill-in pattern to the normal pattern or transfer from a certain normal pattern to an ending pattern, predetermined pattern data which corresponds to a pattern which has been so far performed is automatically determined and transfer to the determined pattern is automatically made. Transfer of the pattern which is automatically determined can also be changed as desired by selection by the player.
