A recording and reproducing apparatus has a communicating unit, a reading unit, a storing unit, a control unit, and an output unit. The communicating unit transmits and receives data to/from an information center in which a plurality of additional information have been stored. The reading unit reads out recorded data from a recording medium on which a plurality of data and index data of a plurality of data have been recorded. The data read out from the recording medium by the reading unit is stored in the storing unit. The control unit reads out the additional information corresponding to the recording medium from which the data is read out by the reading unit from the information center by the communicating unit and writes the read-out additional information into the storing unit as additional data of the recording medium which is read out by the reading unit. The output unit outputs the data stored in the storing unit and the additional data.

Recording and reproducing apparatus and terminal apparatus

A transmitter and receiver adapted to deliver transformed information obtained by transforming the text information of an electronic mail into intermediate language information as voicing information. The transmitting apparatus generates intermediate language information on the basis of the text data received by the transmitting apparatus and also transformed information on the basis of the intermediate language information and transmits the information to the receiving apparatus. Upon receiving the transformed information, the receiving apparatus retrieves the intermediate language information from the received transformed data, and carries out an operation of voice synthesis on the basis of the retrieved intermediate language information and outputs the synthesized voice.

A thread cutting device for a sewing machine includes a stationary blade which is disposed downwardly of a needle plate and a movable blade. The stationary blade is provided at its one end with a cutting edge. The movable blade which is formed with a cutout in the surface opposite to the stationary blade, is adapted to rotate about a shaft and pass over the needle plate and the stationary blade. The cutout is adapted to catch and guide a thread along a path for the thread and provided with a cutting edge to cooperate with the cutting edge of the stationary blade to cut the thread. A through hole is formed between the cutout and the cutting edge of the movable blade to meander the thread through the hole.

A bi-directional capacitor microphone is formed of first and second transducer sections, each section comprising a diaphragm and a back plate facing the diaphragm and separated therefrom. The diaphragm of the first transducer section includes an electret and the back plate of the second transducer section includes another electret. The back plates of the first and second transducer sections are disposed in a back-to-back configuration and are electrically coupled to each other and to one output. The diaphragms of the first and second transducer sections are connected to each other and to another output, so that an output signal appears between the outputs. Preferably, both electrets are selected to have a negative polarity. The bi-directional microphone so constructed exhibits superior response for lower audio frequencies.
