A navigation apparatus for a vehicle using a GPS (Global Positioning System) as sensing means in which information on the basis of sensing results, such as a present position, a running locus and the like are displayed in a predetermined form of display on a display section is disclosed. In cases where the GPS receiver cannot receive radio waves from artificial satellites, and sensing thus becomes disabled, a sensed final present position is displayed with an altered form of display.

Navigation apparatus for vehicles

A vehicle navigation apparatus comprises a self-contained positioning system, GPS positioning system, and a controller for performing arithmetic operation on the basis of the output of any one of the self-contained positioning system and the GPS positioning system so as to display various navigation information on a display. The controller corrects the bearing data based on the self-contained positioning system with respect to that based on the GPS positioning system if the bearing data of self-contained positioning system differs from that of the GPS positioning system by more than a predetermined value when a vehicle velocity determined on the basis of the position data from any one of the positioning systems exceeds a predetermined value.

Vehicle navigation apparatus

A navigation system for a vehicle which does not bewilder a driver of the vehicle with heading indication also when the driving speed of the vehicle is low. The navigation system comprises a GPS receiver, a display unit, a map memory in which a map is stored, a detecting section for detecting a driving position and a driving direction of the vehicle from information received from the GPS receiver, and a controller. The controller receives information of a driving speed of the vehicle from the vehicle and controls, when the driving speed is equal to or higher than a preset speed, the display unit to indicate on a display screen thereof the driving position and driving direction of the vehicle received from the detecting section together with the map received from the map memory, but controls, when the driving speed is lower than the preset speed, the display unit to indicate only the driving position of the vehicle received from the detecting section together with the map received from the map memory.

Navigation system for vehicle

For sub-sampling interpolation, two interpolation sampled values are calculated from two groups of sampling points arranged in the horizontal and vertical scanning directions, respectively, or in the horizontal scanning and temporal directions, respectively. The one of the two interpolation sampled values which is closest to its immediately preceding sampled value is selected.

Method of sub-sampling interpolation

A multirecording method in which a multiplex sub-Nyquist-sampling video signal is multirecorded together with a predetermined signal, such as a pilot or audio signal, with no generation of striped-pattern interference in the reproduced picture. In accordance with the invention, the frequency of the predetermined signal is set at m/(2n+1) times as high as the horizontal scanning frequency of the video signal, where n is a natural number of m is a natural number other than an integral multiple of (2n+1).
