A liquid-crystal display device makes it possible to attach an optical element to a liquid-crystal display panel with high positional accuracy while avoiding or minimizing the enlargement of the picture-frame region (i.e., the non-display region) induced by the formation of markers on the panel and the increase of the fabrication cost. The panel comprises a main substrate, an opposite substrate, and a liquid crystal enclosed in a gap between the main and opposite substrates, wherein a polarizer plate is attached at least to the opposite substrate. Markers for attaching an optical element to the panel are formed at positions that overlap with the polarizer plate in a non-display region on the main or opposite substrate. Alignment direction regulators regulate the alignment of the liquid crystal molecules to a predetermined direction in the vicinities of the markers, allowing light to pass through at least the opposite substrate.

To provide a laminating method which achieve high accuracy and high quality in a laminating step of an optical sheet and a display panel. Contact areas between the optical sheet and the sheet holding head are read. At this time, an optical element face of the optical sheet is brought into contact with the sheet holding head, light is irradiated to the contact areas therebetween from a no-optical-element face, and positional information of the optical sheet is read based on the distribution of the reflected light thereof.

To provide a laser cutting method that is capable of cutting the substrates high accurately with high throughput at a low cost. It is a laser cutting method for cutting a laminated substrate that is formed by laminating at least a pair of substrates. The method comprises the steps of: providing a pattern member with a characteristic of absorbing light of a wavelength that transmits each of the substrates, between each of the substrates along a cutting position of the laminated substrate; and irradiating a laser of the wavelength that transmits the substrates along the pattern member, whereby the laminated substrate is cut along the pattern member.

An optical element array sheet is provided with: a first area in which an optical element array is arranged that is composed of a plurality of optical elements arranged at a prescribed period, a second area formed at the end of the first area with a surface shape that differs from the first area, and a trough formed at the border of the first area and the second area. The side-wall on the second-area side of the trough is formed inclined with respect to a reference line that extends in the thickness direction of the optical element array with the bottom of the trough as the point of origin.

Optical element array sheet, display device, and fabrication method for same

A display device reduces the image quality degradations by suppressing the effect of the defective alignment regions caused by the spacers while minimizing the aperture ratio lowering, and prevents the image quality change dependent on the observation positions. The display device has a display panel and a lenticular lens. Each unit pixel of the display panel includes the sub-pixel for the left eye and the sub-pixel for the right eye. To keep the pair of substrates at a predetermined gap, spacers are arranged at predetermined positions in the gap. The spacers are stripe-shaped and extended along a direction perpendicular to the image separation axis of the lenticular lens. The spacers are equally overlapped with the sub-pixels for the left eye and those for the right eye. The spacers may be isolated for the respective unit pixels, or the first or second sub-pixels.

Display device and terminal unit using the same

A cut-out part is formed in the end part of the alignment film of a TFT substrate located on the side of a transfer electrode, and this cut-out part is positioned on the transfer electrode. Furthermore, a sealing member composed of a resin that includes conductive particles is formed on the peripheral edge parts of the alignment film. In this case, the system is devised so that the transfer electrode is covered by the sealing member. Furthermore, the TFT substrate and counter substrate are pasted together by the sealing member, and the transfer electrode of the TFT substrate and the counter electrode of the counter substrate are connected to each other. Subsequently, a liquid crystal layer is sealed between the TFT substrate and the counter substrate to produce a liquid crystal display device. As a result, a liquid crystal display device with a narrow frame and high display quality can be obtained.

Liquid crystal display device and method for manufacturing the same

A liquid crystal display panel has a drive substrate and an opposing substrate disposed parallel to each other by way of a seal member provided with a liquid crystal injection inlet. A liquid crystal layer is sealed between the two substrates. Apertures are provided in the portion formed on the periphery of the pixel area of the smoothed film that is formed on the surface of the drive substrate, and an orientation film is formed so that at least part of the peripheral edge portion is positioned inside the apertures. Thereby, the liquid crystal injection time can be reduced and the panel can be set in a narrow frame, and the wiring and peripheral drive circuits are not liable to be damaged.
