Distributing valves of a swash plate type hydraulic drive transmission can make a cylinder block smaller and reduce the number of processes and the number of parts. Distributing valves alternately switch, corresponding to the axial reciprocating motion of plungers, communication and cutoff between communication passages communicated to oil chambers opening to the inner surface of cylinder holes and low pressure ports and high pressure ports communicated to a low pressure oil passage and a high pressure oil passage opening to the inner surface of the cylinder holes.

Swash plate type hydraulic drive transmission and hydrostatic type continuously variable transmission

To moderate the efficiency of engine braking when it is applied while a continuously variable transmission produces a large transmission ratio. Such a continuously variable transmission is constituted by a hydraulic pump having an input rotary member connected to an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, a hydraulic motor having an output rotational axis connected to a driving wheel. The hydraulic pump and hydraulic motor are coupled via a first oil passageway, which has a low oil pressure during the normal load operation of the engine but has a high oil pressure during the reverse load operation of the engine, and a second oil passageway, which has a high oil pressure during the normal load operation but has a low pressure during the reverse load operation, thereby forming a closed oil passageway circuit. At least the hydraulic pump or the hydraulic motor has a variable capacity. A one-way clutch is interposed between an input rotary member and an output rotational axis in order to directly couple them as the output rotational axis rotates faster than the input rotary member during the reverse load operation.

Hydraulic-mechanical type continuously variable transmission for vehicle

Swash plate type hydraulic unit

It is intended to provide a swash plate type continuously variable transmission capable of automatically affording a lock-up state in which second distributing valves are stopped at their stroke mid-point to cut off motor ports when a motor swash plate stands upright, even without using any special interlocking mechanism. Second distributing valves for bringing motor ports of motor cylinder bores into communication with a high-pressure oil path and a low-pressure oil path selectively in an alternate manner are arranged in parallel with the axis X of a cylinder block; a valve swash plate for reciprocating the second distributing valves is integrally combined with a motor swash plate on the same slant plane; and the motor ports are formed so as to be controlled selectively by the second distributing valves at respective positions 90.degree. out of phase in the circumferential direction of the cylinder block 4 with respect to the corresponding motor cylinder bores, the second distributing valves being stopped at their stroke mid-points when the motor swash plate stands upright. In a swash plate type hydraulic unit for use as a swash plate type oil-hydraulic pump or motor, it is intended to attain the reduction in radial size of the hydraulic unit while ensuring a sufficient plunger stroke.

Swash plate type continuously variable transmission

A transmission with a static, hydraulic continuously-variable-speed transmission mechanism comprising a hydraulic circuit having a closed circuit, a hydraulic pump connected on the crankshaft of an engine, and a hydraulic motor having a motor output shaft coaxial with the axis of rotation of the hydraulic pump, and contained in a casing with its axis extended in parallel to that of the crankshaft. The static, hydraulic continuously-variable-speed transmission mechanism has a small construction and has an increased degree of freedom of selection of speed change ratio. An output shaft, i.e., the final output shaft of a transmission is supported for rotation on a casing with its axis extended in parallel to that of a static, hydraulic continuously-variable-speed transmission mechanism. A motor output shaft and the output shaft can be interlocked by a reduction mechanism.

The present invention provides a swash plate type hydraulic actuator comprising cylinders provided with an inner oil passage, an outer oil passage, cylinder bores, radial valve holes extending between the inner oil passage and the outer oil passages, and ports opening into the cylinder bores and the valve holes, respectively. Distributing valves are slidably fitted in the valve holes for connecting the ports alternately to the inner oil passage and the outer oil passage. Swash plate holders, swash plates and eccentric rings supported on the swash plate holders so as to be engaged with the outer ends of the distributing valves respectively, are provided. Plungers are slidably fitted in the cylinder bores, respectively, in which the displacement can be changed whether or not the inclination of the swash plates is variable. Eccentric radius changing mechanisms for changing the effective stroke of plungers by changing the eccentric radii of eccentric rings relative to cylinders are connected to the eccentric rings capable of being moved radially of the cylinders.

Swash plate type hydraulic actuator with variable eccentricities

A swash-plate hydraulic pressure device for use as a hydraulic pump or motor includes a cylinder block having an annular array of cylinder holes defined therein around an axis. A plurality of plungers of a ceramic material are reciprocally movably disposed in the cylinder holes, respectively, the plungers having respective partly spherical tip ends. A swash plate of metal is disposed around the cylinder block for rotation with respect to the cylinder block, the swash plate having a annular groove of a partly spherical cross section defined therein and, the partly spherical tip ends of the plungers engaging in the groove. The tip ends of the plungers preferably have a pore area percentage of at most 7.8% and a maximum surface roughness of at most 1.6 s. The partly spherical tip end of each of the plungers has a radius R.sub.0 of curvature, each of the plungers has a diameter D, the groove has a radius R.sub.1 of curvature and a depth E. The ratios R.sub.0 /D, R.sub.0 /R.sub.1, and E/R.sub.0 preferably are in the ranges of 0.52.ltoreq.R.sub.0 /D.ltoreq.0.62, 0.81.ltoreq.R.sub.0 /R.sub.1 .ltoreq.0.87, and 0.36.ltoreq.E/R.sub.0 .ltoreq.0.42. Each of the plungers has a beveled surface on an end thereof opposite to the partly spherical tip end thereof, the beveled or rounded surface preferably having an axial depth of at least 0.6 mm.

Swash-plate hydraulic pressure device

A power train for vehicles having a swashplate type continuously variable transmission having a swashplate hydraulic pump and a swashplate hydraulic motor, a transmission cylinder therebetween with a plurality of pump plunger holes and motor plunger holes formed therein. The transmission cylinder is rotatable about an axis and is coupled with the crankshaft of the engine. The pump swashplate is rotatable and disposed at an angle to the axis of the transmission cylinder and is coupled with pump plungers. A motor swashplate which is variably inclined relative to the axis of the cylinder and includes motor plungers associated with the cylinder. The swashplates have a number of spherical protruding portions which are abutted by spherical concave portions on the plungers with the concavities having a larger radius of curvature than the protruding portions with engagement varying from radially outwardly to radially inwardly of the axes of the plungers relative to the cylinder and radial forces are diametrically disposed to center the swashplate.

In a hydrostatic continuously variable transmission in which a clutch valve capable of operating between a clutch-on position for setting a hydraulic closed circuit between a hydraulic pump and a hydraulic motor to a hydraulic transmitting state and a clutch-off position for setting the hydraulic closed circuit to a hydraulic transmission cutting-off state is connected to the hydraulic closed circuit, a pressure bearing chamber for urging the clutch valve to the clutch-off position, and a pressure regulating spring for urging the valve to the clutch-on position are provided in the clutch valve, and a clutch controller for regulating the set load of the pressure regulating spring is connected to the pressure regulating spring. Thus, the degree of the hydraulic transmission between the pump and the motor can be controlled as desired without influence of the viscous change of a working oil. The clutch valve is disposed at one axial end of a transmission shaft.

Hydrostatic continously variable transmission with adjustable clutch

In a hydrostatic continuously variable transmission comprising an annular inner oil passage and an annular outer oil passage which are formed in the cylinder block between a large number of cylinder bores in the pump cylinder and a large number of cylinder bores in the motor cylinder so as to surround an axis of the cylinder block, large numbers of first and second distributor valves disposed radiately in the cylinder block and adapted to be reciprocally moved radially of the cylinder block, and a first and a second eccentric ring engaged with the first and second distributor valves, respectively, a large number of clutch valves are arranged radiately and circumferentially alternatively with the second distributor valves in the cylinder block and adapted to be reciprocally moved between radially inner and outer positions in the cylinder block to short-circuit the oil passages when the reciprocation stroke thereof exceeds a given value. The clutch valves are engaged with the second eccentric ring together with the second distributor valves, and the second eccentric ring are movable so that it can be moved between a clutch-on position in which it provides a normal reciprocal movement to the second distributor valves and a clutch-off position in which the clutch valves are reciprocally moved to a position to short-circuit the oil passage.

Hydrostatic continuously variable transmission with a set of pump

A hydrostatically operated continuously variable transmission for use with an engine includes a swash-plate-type axial-piston hydraulic pump and a swash-plate-type axial-piston hydraulic motor which are interconnected by a closed hydraulic circuit. The pump and motor cylinders of the pump and the motor are disposed coaxially with each other and integrally coupled to each other into a cylinder block. An input shaft connected to an engine is coupled centrally to the cylinder block, and a output tubular shaft connected to a load is relatively rotatably disposed on an outer periphery of the cylinder block. The pump swash plate of the pump is supported by a stationary machine frame. The motor swash plate of the motor is supported by the output tubular shaft.

Hydrostatically operated continuously variable transmission

A power transmission system comprises a hydrostatic continuously variable transmission constituted by integrally and coaxially coupling a pump cylinder of a swashplate type hydraulic pump with a motor cylinder of a swashplate type hydraulic motor. The transmission is rotatably supported at its opposite ends on a bearing. A first transmission device connected to an engine is connected to an input member of the pump from one side of the transmission, and a second transmission device connected to a load member is connected to an output member of the pump on the radially opposite side of the transmission. The first and second transmission devices are disposed adjacent each other near one end of the continuously variable transmission. This permits the points of action of loads on the input and output members from the first and second transmission devices to be placed in close vicinity to each other, thereby reducing the swinging moment and the flexing moment acting on the transmission due to these loads.

A brake device for vehicles applying brake power to a wheel through actuation of a disc brake by an output hydraulic pressure from a master cylinder, wherein an inertial type wheel angular deceleration sensor driven by the wheel through a transmission device is incorporated in an antilock control unit adapted to control the output hydraulic pressure of the master cylinder, the disc brake and the transmission device are enclosed in an annular recess open to one side of the wheel, and a caliper of the brake and the antilock control unit are supported on a fixed panel disposed so as to close an opening of the annular recess.

The present invention relates to a method for controlling an automatic transmission of a vehicle which is capable of continuously changing a transmission ratio (Rt) and transmission coefficient (Ct). The method is three fold, that is, an initial stage control procedure, a special stage control procedure and a normal stage control procedure having priority in operation in this order. At the initial stage control procedure, Rt and Ct are determined, according to a plurality of indices representing a state of the vehicle, so that the vehicle is accelerated effectively, in general. At the special stage control procedure, Rt and Ct are determined, when a propelling force transmitting path for transmitting propelling force from an engine to the ground is disconnected at least at one part, so that a shock due to a recovery of said propelling force transmitting path is minimized. At the normal stage control procedure, Rt and Ct are determined so that the vehicle responds to the operation of the driver swiftly.

Method for controlling automatic transmissions

A hydrostatic continuously variable transmission comprising a hydraulic pump having a pump cylinder, a hydraulic motor having a motor cylinder and a hydraulic closed circuit between the pump and motor, wherein the pump cylinder and motor cylinder are connected integrally rotatably to form a transmission member, one of input and output sections of the transmission being formed on the outer periphery of one of the cylinders and the other of the sections being formed by a transmission shaft which relatively rotatably carries the cylinders. The hydraulic closed circuit includes groups of first and second distributor valves for controlling transfer of working oil between the pump and motor through oil passages and first and second valve driving means for driving these groups of valves are arranged such that one is inside and the other is outside of a cylinder block formed of the pump and motor cylinders. This allows a transmission to have a compact size and a high industrial utility.
