A method of the present invention for producing a calcium phosphate complex including a substrate and calcium phosphate bonded to a surface of the substrate, the method includes the steps of: (a) treating the surface of the substrate; and (b) bonding the calcium phosphate onto the surface of the substrate after the step (a), the step (a) being the step of placing the surface of the substrate in contact with ozone water. Therefore, the method of the present invention makes it possible to bond calcium phosphate and the substrate at a high bonding strength and at a high coverage. In addition, the method of the present invention provides an easy method for producing a calcium phosphate complex.

The present invention solves the issue of bacterial infection by medical devices such as intracorporeal indwelling catheters. The present invention relates to an ultrasonic medical apparatus including a medical device (titanium oxide coated medical device) covered with a titanium oxide material (titanium oxide alone or a titanium oxide composite material) and ultrasonic irradiation means. Ultrasonic irradiation of the titanium oxide material, which exists on a surface of the medical device, causes the surface of the medical device to exert beneficial effects such as antibiotic action, the stimulation of angiogenesis, and the degradation of a blood clot and a biofilm.

The biological function comprises biological functions relating to cell growth. The biological functions relating to cell growth may include at least one of cell cultivation, cell proliferation, cell fusion, and cell differentiation.

The present invention provides a percutaneous terminal having a substrate thereof flocked with fibers having bio-affinity, and thereby being able to adhere tightly to a living body, a medical instrument to be placed in the body, and a production method and a production apparatus of the percutaneous terminal and the medical instrument to be placed in the body. The percutaneous terminal according to the present invention is one which the surface of the substrate is flocked with bio-affinitive short fibers (e.g. hydroxyapatite complex particles), therefore the bio-affinitive short fibers are risen perpendicular to or substantially perpendicular to the surface of the substrate. As a result, an area of the bio-affinitive short fibers coating a unit area of the substrate of the percutaneous terminal to the unit area of the percutaneous terminal substrate is considerably elevated and, in its turn, the adhesiveness of the percutaneous terminal to biological tissues is improved. Thus, it is possible to stably fix to the living body a medical device such as a catheter or the like which has the percutaneous terminal. The medical instrument according to the present invention is also flocked with the short fibers as described above, therefore it is possible to stably fix to the living body the medical instrument to be placed in the body.

A ceramic particle group dispersed in a solvent in a state of primary particles of single crystal, a method for production thereof and a use thereof are disclosed. In one embodiment a method is disclosed for producing a sintered particle (ceramic particle) group of hydroxyapatite (HAp), which includes a step of subjecting a system wherein calcium carbonate is present between primary particles of hydroxyapatite (HAp) to sintering and then dissolving calcium carbonate with water to remove calcium carbonate. A hydroxyapatite (HAp) sintered particle group produced by the above method is a nanometer size particle group having a particle diameter of about 70 to about 120 nm, and is a particle group having a uniform particle diameter (coefficient of variation: 12%), and further 96% of the particle group is dispersed as a single crystal particle.

A reactive functional group is introduced into titanium oxide, and an active group which is capable of reacting with the reactive functional group is introduced into a polymer-based material, and the reactive functional group and the active group are reacted with each other, thereby producing a titanium oxide complex in which the polymer-based material and the titanium oxide chemically bond to each other. Further, a functional group of the polymer-based material and the titanium oxide are reacted with each other, thereby producing the titanium oxide complex without performing chemical pretreatment with respect to the titanium oxide.

A hydroxyapatite complex includes a hydroxyapatite sintered compact that is chemically bonded to a polymer-based material containing at least one functional group selected form a group consisting of an isocyanate group and an alkoxysilyl group, wherein: the hydroxyapatite sintered compact is reacted with the functional group of the polymer-based material. This arrangement allows manufacturing of a hydroxyapatite complex without a chemical pre-treatment of the hydroxyapatite sintered compact.
