A capacitance detection device of a capacitance system includes: a capacitance sensor electrode for detecting a capacitance; a power source for supplying charges to be charged in the capacitance sensor electrode; an electric charge storage capacitor in which an amount of charges to be charged therein changes according to the electric charges charged in the capacitance sensor electrode; and a switch for changing a reference potential of the electric charge storage capacitor. The reference potential of the electric charge storage capacitor is changed in a period of measuring the capacitance.

Coordinate input device and display device with the same

A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal material sandwiched between the first and second substrate. The second substrate has a touch screen electrode directly on a front-side surface of the second substrate. The first substrate has a wiring line for supplying a position detection voltage. A conductive tape electrically connects between the touch screen electrode and a driver circuit. A polarization plate is disposed above the touch screen electrode.

In RGB time division drives, there is capacitor coupling due to the effects of fluctuation in the drain lines, and thus, the image quality deteriorates (lateral smearing), so that the display brightness becomes different from the desired display brightness due to delay in the convergence of the fluctuation of the common potential, and thus, it is a goal to prevent the image quality from deteriorating (lateral smearing). In RGB time division drives, the order of time division is switched for each frame, or in the direction of the horizontal lines.

A liquid crystal display device with a touch panel includes: pixel electrodes as a plurality of electrodes to each of which a potential corresponding to a gray-scale value is applied; common electrodes as a plurality of electrodes that extend in one direction; detection electrodes as a plurality of electrodes that extend in a direction different from the one direction and detect a contact position on the panel; a liquid crystal layer that is formed of a liquid crystal composition; and a drive pulse output unit that sequentially applies a potential for detecting a touch to drive electrodes as a plurality of electrodes of a portion of the common electrodes, wherein the drive pulse output unit can output a drive pulse to the drive electrode at plural different timings within one horizontal synchronizing period for display.

The electrostatic capacity coupling type touch panel includes X electrodes (XP) and Y electrodes (YP) which intersect each other via a first insulating layer, and a plurality of Z electrodes in floating states to each other via a second insulating layer. For the second insulating layer, a material which changes in thickness by pressing of touch is used. The Z electrode is disposed so as to overlap both an X electrode and a Y electrode which are adjacent to each other. In a pad part of the X electrode, an area is larger toward the center of the X electrode and an area is smaller toward the center of the adjacent X electrode. Therefore, the nonconductive input means can be used, and highly accurate position detection is realized with a small number of electrodes even when a touch area is small.

Display device

An image processing unit (in FIG.) discards a high gray level side of input image data (RiGiBi) in accordance with a chroma coefficient (Csc), thereby to generate a signal of lowered chroma, and it expands the signal into output image data (RoGoBo) of full scale. Besides, the image processing unit () generates an image adjustment parameter (Th) and performs a control so as to reduce power of backlight (), in interlocking with the full-scale expansion.

An input apparatus includes: a transparent substrate with which an object is brought into contact; a rectangular single sheet electrode formed on the transparent substrate; first detection means which inputs a measurement signal to the rectangular single sheet electrode from one of two opposing perimeter portions along a first direction, and takes out the measurement signal from another one of the two opposing perimeter portions, to detect a contact point of the contacting object along the first direction; and second detection means which, after the contact point in the first direction is detected, inputs a measurement signal to the rectangular single sheet electrode from one of two opposing perimeter portions along a second direction, and takes out the measurement signal from another one of the two opposing perimeter portions, to detect the contact point along the second direction.

Input apparatus and display system

A display device includes a display panel and a touch panel built in the display panel. The touch panel includes a sensitivity correcting unit configured to correct the sensitivity of the touch panel. The sensitivity correcting unit includes a difference acquiring unit configured to acquire a signal difference (S1&#x2212;S2) between a detection signal S1 acquired by detection electrodes when a driving signal V1 is input to scanning electrodes from a driving-signal supplying unit and a detection signal S2 (S1&#x3e;S2) acquired by the detection electrodes when a driving signal V2 (V1&#x3e;V2) different from the driving signal V1 is input to the scanning electrodes from the driving-signal supplying unit and a parameter changing unit configured to change parameters of at least one of the driving-signal supplying unit and a detecting unit when the signal difference (S1&#x2212;S2) is equal to or smaller than a predetermined threshold.

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display controller device and method which provides for a full and/or partial display with good display quality and/or low power consumption based on the scanning period for an active scan line being dependent upon a number of reference clock pulses. Some embodiments of the present invention include one or more of the following features: keeping the frequency substantially constant for different numbers of active scan lines, allowing change of the frequency due to characteristics of the LCD, displaying gradation with near linear effective voltage characteristics, displaying graduation data with lower power, or displaying a partial or full screen in a mobile device, for example, a cell phone.

Liquid crystal display controller

A TFT element for ambient light detection and a TFT element for temperature detection are connected in series. In a first period, a first switch element is off, and a second switch element is at a hi side, so that a threshold voltage of the TFT element for temperature detection is detected. In a second period, a first switch element is on, and a second switch element is at a low side, so that temperature is detected. In a third period, a first switch element is on, and a second switch element is at a hi side, so that ambient light is detected. An input voltage and a control voltage to each of the TFT elements are set by a voltage controller provided in a drive circuit based on the threshold voltage.

In a display device, pixel electrodes I, II and III corresponding to color filters R, G and B are coupled to TFTs which are turned on in accordance with signals on gate lines G, and the drain (source) of the TFT coupled to the pixel electrode II is connected with the source (drain) of the TFT coupled to the pixel electrode III. A signal voltage is written in the pixel electrode I when the gate line Gis in the 'on' state, a signal voltage is written in the pixel electrode II when the gate line Gis in the 'on' state, and a signal voltage is written in the pixel electrode III when the gate lines Gand Gare both in the &#x201c;on&#x201d; state. Signal voltages are written in the pixel electrodes III, I and II in this order mentioned.

The present invention comprises: a display unit having a plurality of pixels arranged therein, each pixel including an organic EL element, a switching TFT, and a drive TFT; a data signal drive circuit for receiving image data for each frame period and outputting an image signal based on the image data; a scanning signal drive circuit for outputting a scanning signal for controlling a timing at which the switching element of each of the plurality of pixels receives the image signal; and a current source (a light emission power supply unit and a cathode potential control circuit together) for outputting a current supplied to the light emitting unit of each of the plurality of pixels through its drive element; wherein the current source modulates the value of the output current within each frame period.
