An air conditioner suited for use in an automotive vehicle has a plurality of emission modes in which appropriately regulated air is directed to a plurality of locations on the front side of a passenger compartment defined in the automotive vehicle. The air conditioner includes a blower unit for introducing external air into the passenger compartment or circulating internal air and an air chamber formed on the downstream side of the blower unit in the direction of air flow. A rear duct is branched and extends rearwardly from the air chamber so that air from the blower unit may be fed to a rear portion of the passenger compartment through the rear duct. A damper or a blower is mounted in the rear duct to restrict the air volume to be fed to the rear portion of the passenger compartment when the temperature of external air is less than a given value.

Air conditioner for use in an automotive vehicle

Disclosed is an air-conditioning apparatus for an automotive vehicle so adapted as to allow its louvers disposed at air outlets for blowing or supplying air into the vehicle compartment to constantly assume their original positions when the louvers stop swinging. The swinging louvers are arranged to allow their directions in which the air is blown or supplied to be periodically changed by the swinging motor. The swinging motor is driven on the basis of a control signal from a control unit. A switching circuit of the swinging motor is provided with a first switch for being turned on or off on the basis of the signal from the control unit and with a second switch so arranged in parallel to the first switch and in association with the swinging motor as to be turned off when the swinging louvers are returned to their original positions.

An automobile air conditioning system has a bypass air passage for directing air, before it is heated, to a car interior via a vent outlet. A bypass door is disposed in the bypass air passage, which has an opening which is automatically controlled according to a desired air conditioning temperature in an automatic air conditioning mode. The bypass door control can be intentionally changed to a mild control mode, in which the opening of the bypass door is automatically controlled to become smaller as the temperature of air, which either is in the bypass passage or is to be introduced into the bypass passage, becomes lower in a predetermined range of temperatures.

Air conditioning is so implemented as to allow a current of air fed into a passenger compartment of the vehicle to be closer to or approach to a gentle and natural wind by making the applicable voltage to the blower motor variable so as to change the air volume or amount to a subtle extent for a stable period of time when the air volume or amount to be fed into the compartment is reduced to a small level under automatic control.
