An endoscopic lithotripsy probe apparatus includes a probe, ultrasonic-vibration source, mechanical shock generation source, and switch-mechanism. The ultrasonic-vibration source is detachably attached to the probe to transmit an ultrasonic-vibration to the probe in a state in which the proximal end of the probe is connected to the ultrasonic-vibration source. The mechanical shock generation source, which is disposed on the side of the proximal end of the probe, applies a force to the ultrasonic-vibration source in a state in which the ultrasonic-vibration source is detached from the proximal end of the probe, and allows the ultrasonic-vibration source to collide with the proximal end of the probe so that a mechanical shock is applied to the probe. The switch-mechanism switches a state in which the ultrasonic-vibration from the ultrasonic-vibration source is transmitted to the probe and a state in which the mechanical shock from the mechanical shock generation source is transmitted.

An endoscope includes an elongated insertion section which has a distal end portion and is inserted into a body cavity. The insertion section has a rigid portion body on the distal end portion. The rigid portion body has at least one mounting hole in which each of optical members of an observation optical system and an illumination optical system is mounted. A binding portion which mechanically restricts the optical member with respect to the rigid portion body is provided on at least a part of the boundary between the mounting hole and the optical member mounted in the mounting hole.

In a bendable tube of an endoscope, a plurality of joint rings each having a rotational axis perpendicular to a direction of bending of an insertion section of the endoscope are arranged in a longitudinal direction of the insertion section. A pair of connection tongue portions provided to project in a longitudinal direction of the joint rings are rotatably connected by means of a shaft member. An end face of a small-diameter portion of the shaft member, which comprises the small-diameter portion and a large-diameter portion, is welded to one of the tongue portions through a rotary shaft hole, which is formed in the other tongue portion and has a diameter slightly greater than a diameter of the small-diameter portion.

An endoscope has an operating section and an insertion section. The insertion section includes a flexible tube and a bending tube. At least two wires for operating the bending tube from the operating section are each connected at one end to the bending tube, with at least two wire guides for guiding these wires being arranged in the flexible tube. The endoscope further includes a coupling member for coupling the flexible tube and the bending tube to each other. The coupling member consists of at least two parts which can be combined integral, and one of the wire guides is fixed to each of the parts.

In an insertion section of an endoscope according to the present invention, a plurality of flexible segment tubes, each having a predetermined length and a predetermined inside diameter, constitute necessary ducts for the endoscope, individually. The ducts include an image guide duct, light guide duct, instrument channel duct, and air/water channel duct. The flexible segment tubes are fixed in a housing tube. In manufacturing the insertion section, optical fibers and the like are inserted into the flexible tubes, fixed in the housing tube. Once the housing tube is molded, the respective sectional configurations of the flexible tubes are kept uniform, even though the housing tube may contract. Thus, the optical fibers and other elements can be inserted easily into the ducts.
