A method and structure for compensating tolerances in assembling modules are provided. The method applies to a pressing fixture and a module with a baseline reference plane and an assembly baseline plane. The assembly baseline plane has at least three compensation baseline bumps, having the height greater than the compensation amount. The pressing fixture has a calibration reference plane. The method comprises: adjusting the position of the module or the pressing fixture to make the baseline reference plane parallel to the calibration reference plane; the pressing fixture using the calibration reference plane to press on the compensation baseline bumps, and changing the position of bump top of each compensation baseline bump; removing the pressing fixture from the compensation baseline bumps, and the plurality of the bump tops forming a preliminary baseline plane, and the preliminary baseline plane being parallel to the baseline reference plane.

Method and structure for compensating tolerances in assembling modules

A calibration apparatus and method for optical system assembly is provided, applicable to a finite conjugate optical system to determine the optimal image-forming positions of the light source and the focus object lens of the finite conjugate optical system. The apparatus includes an external light source, a low magnification image-forming optical system, an electrical control system and a monitor. When the parallel beam generated by the external light source is parallel to the optical axis of the finite conjugate optical system, the low magnification image-forming optical system is used to magnify the two focal spots formed by the external light source and the internal light source of the finite conjugate optical system to be calibrated. Finally, by adjusting the related position of the focus object lens or the internal light source of the finite conjugate optical system, the optimal relative positions between the light source and the focus object lens of the finite conjugate optical system can be found. The calibration apparatus of the present invention has the advantages of simple structure, easy assemble and setup, high precision assembly and low cost, as well as the capability to perform optimal calibration of the relative position of the focus object lens and the light source of each individual finite conjugate optical system.

Calibration apparatus and method for optical system assembly

An optical pickup with a reflective coating device is provided, including a laser diode (LD), an optical element, and a photo detector integrated circuit (PDIC). The LD emits 1-3 lights with different wavelengths but the same polarization orientation. The beam transmits through the optical element set and focus on a recording media for data reading and writing. The beams are reflected by the recording media, through the optical element set, and detected by the PDIC for signal detection. The optical element set further includes a grating, a reflective coating device, and an objective lens. By using the reflective coating device to change the linear polarization orientation of the emitting light and the feedback light for 90&#xb0; angle, the relative intensity noise caused by the feedback light in LD can be reduced.
