A system for Terahertz detection of target charged cells, comprising a near-infrared femtosecond radiation source; a sensing plate, the sensing plate comprising a sensing film deposited on an insulator/semiconductor film; wherein the radiation source is configured to irradiate the sensing plate, and upon irradiation, the sensing plate emits electromagnetic pulses in a THz frequency range in a specular direction of reflection. The method for Terahertz detection of target charged cells comprises irradiating a sensing plate comprising a sensing film deposited on an insulator/semiconductor film with a near-infrared femtosecond radiation; applying a charged bias voltage to the sensing film; and monitoring variations in amplitude of THz pulses emitted by the sensing plate.

Method and apparatus for terahertz detection of charged molecules and microbes

A method and a system for generating intense, ultrashort pulses of XUV and soft X-ray radiation via high-order harmonic generation (HHG), the method comprising selecting a nonlinear solid target and a laser source; separating a beam from the laser source into a first laser beam and a second laser beam; focusing the first laser beam onto the nonlinear solid target, thereby generating a laser ablated plume; and compressing and frequency-doubling the second laser beam and directing a resulting second compressed and frequency-doubled laser beam to the laser ablated plume, thereby yielding high-order harmonic generation of radiation of photon energies in a range between 12 eV and 36 eV. A high-order harmonic source of radiation, comprising a nonlinear solid target; a laser source; a beam splitter separating a beam from the laser source into a first beam line and a second beam line; the first beam line comprising a first focusing unit directing a first, uncompressed, laser beam onto the nonlinear solid target, to generate a laser ablated plume; and the second beam line directing a second, compressed and frequency-doubled laser beam, to the laser ablated plume, yielding high-order harmonic generation of radiation of photon energies in a range between 12 eV and 36 eV.

A characterization and detection method and system, the system comprising a terahertz beam source, a probe beam source, a detection crystal receiving a probe beam from the probe beam source and a terahertz beam from the terahertz beam source, the probe beam and the terahertz beam co-propagating collinearly through the detection crystal, and a polarizer analyser receiving the pump beam transmitted from the detection crystal, wherein the polarizer analyser comprises two liquid crystal variable retarders and a linear polarizer, the polarizer analyzer analyzing a phase delay and orientation changes of the principle axes of the probe beam induced by the THz electric field and polarization.

Method and system for terahertz radiation detection and characterization

A method for characterizing terahertz radiation using spectral domain interferometry, comprising overlapping a pump beam and a terahertz beam in a detecting crystal; obtaining two probe pulses by propagating the probe beam into a polarization maintaining single-mode optical fiber after the detecting crystal; and measuring a change in the optical path difference between the two probe pulses. The system comprises a detection crystal, where a terahertz pulse and a probe beam are made to overlap; a polarization-maintaining optical fiber propagating the probe beam after the detection crystal and outputting two probe pulses; and a spectrometer where the two probe pulses interfere.

Method and apparatus for characterization of terahertz radiation

A method and system based on spectral domain interferometry for detecting intense THz electric field, allowing the use of thick crystal for spectroscopic purposes, in order to makes long temporal scans for increased spectral resolutions, and overcoming the limitation of over-rotation for presently available high power THz sources. Using this method and system the phase difference of approximately 8898&#x3c0; can be measured, which is 18000 times higher than the phase difference measured by electro-optic sampling (&#x3c0;/2).

Spectral-domain interferometric method and system for characterizing terahertz radiation

The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for measuring a displacement in vivo in situ of an eye, along with a method of assessing of an eye condition. More particularly, the apparatus and method of the present invention permits measurements of a displacement of at least two points in proximity of an optic disc, in the eye of a patient. For doing so, the apparatus uses a probing unit, an analog/digital converter and an analyzer. The displacement measured may include a pulsatile displacement of the lamina cribrosa, so as to perform early assessment of an eye condition.
