An electromagnetic adjusting device having a first, second and third plug contacts for operating the adjusting device on an operating voltage source having a first and second voltage pole. The device can include an actuator coupled to the plug contacts. The actuator can have a magnet coil with a first terminal connected to the first plug contact, a second terminal connected to the second plug contact, where either the first or the second plug contact is connected to the first voltage pole. The magnet coil can also have a first transistor with a first control electrode connecting the first terminal to the third plug contact, a second transistor having a second control electrode connecting the second terminal to the third plug contact, a first resistor connecting the first control electrode to the second plug contact and a second resistor connecting the second control electrode to the first plug contact.

An electric motor with an add-on unit, such as a gearbox unit, encoder unit or controller unit, and disclosed whereby the electric motor and add-on unit can be firmly connected to each other. For a firm connection, a shrink ring is thermally shrunk on to the electric motor and add-on unit in the area of the joint so that the shrink ring covers the joint. A method is also disclosed for producing the connection, wherein a temperature difference is first created between the shrink ring on the one hand and the electric motor as well as add-on unit on the other hand, whereby furthermore the temperature of the shrink ring is greater than the temperature of the electric motor and add-on unit and whereby the components are then joined together and held so that the shrink ring shrinks on to the electric motor and add-on unit.

A suspension arm actuator for a scanning device includes a suspension arm which is designed as a two-arm lever having a first and second arms. The second lever arm includes a component for a magnetic drive for a swivel motion of the suspension arm. The component is arranged at a recess having the shape of a circular arc, with an inner leg of a yoke being permanently attached to a support projecting into the recess and forming a magnetic yoke, wherein the yoke is provided with a shell-like magnet on its outer leg in order to form the magnetic drive. A magnet for field optimization, which is magnetized perpendicularly in relation to the shell-like magnet, is arranged on the yoke in the region between the inner leg and the shell-like magnet to increase the sensitivity of the suspension arm actuator.

Suspension arm actuator for a scanning device including a magnet for field optimization

A pickup for accessing moving storage media carrying substantially parallel information tracks has a carrier, an actuator with a lens and suspension wires extending from the rear of the carrier and joining the carrier and the actuator. The actuator is movable in the focus direction and in a tracking direction and has a substantially rectangular flat board carrying the lens and a counter weight. The flat board is arranged orthogonal to a focus direction and carries tracking and focus coils. The pickup has a magnet configuration connected to the carrier with at least two tracking magnets, which are arranged in the tracking direction at opposite sides of the flat board and extend orthogonal to the focus direction above and/or under the flat board, and with at least two focus magnets, which are arranged in front of and behind the flat board and extend orthogonal to the direction of the tracks. According to the invention, the lens is arranged asymmetrically in reference to an axis through a center of the flat board parallel to the direction of the tracks while the lens and the counter weight are symmetrically arranged in reference to the center of the flat board.

An electromagnetic drive includes a drive plate disposed in a magnetic field. The drive plate includes a non-conductive medium with a first plurality of linear conductive elements arranged parallel to a first axis. The first plurality of linear conductive elements connects first and second electrical terminals supported by the non-conductive medium. The drive plate may be driven in the magnetic field along a second axis that is substantially perpendicular to the first axis when an electrical current of sufficient magnitude is passed through the first plurality of linear conductive elements.

For this purpose, the printed circuit board is at the same time a mounting board for the lens holder, and the printed circuit board and the lens holder together form the moving part of the actuator.
