In a MIDI signal processor, note on messages and note off messages are extracted from an input MIDI signal. A device detects that a first extracted note on message of a channel number and a note number is followed by a second extracted note on message of the same channel number and same note number without being followed by an extracted note off message of the same channel number and the same note number. The first note on message is outputted but output of the second note on message is inhibited when the detecting device detects that the first note on message is followed by the second note on message without being followed by the note off message.

MIDI signal processor

In a MIDI Signal processor, MIDI data is reproduced from a recording medium. The reproduced MIDI data is outputted. An interruption of the reproducing of the MIDI data is detected. A MIDI status byte is detected after the interruption ends. The outputting of the reproduced MIDI data is suspended when the interruption is detected. The suspending is continued until the MIDI status byte is detected.

A keying system in an electrocin musical instrument comprises a circuit for generating harmonic level control voltages for controlling the levels respectively of harmonics (inclusive of the first harmonic, i.e., the fundamental tone), a circuit provided in correspondence to the keys of a keyboard of the musical instrument and responding to manipulations of said keys to generate envelope control voltages, an addition circuit for respectively adding the envelope control voltages corresponding to the keys and the said harmonic level control voltages, a mixing circuit for mixing outputs respectively corresponding to the same letter names among the outputs of said addition means, a sound-source circuit for generating sound-source signals of frequencies respectively of the harmonics (inclusive of the fundamental tone) corresponding to the keys, and a circuit for gating the sound-source signals of the frequencies of the letter names corresponding to said outputs among the signals from said sound source circuit through the use of the outputs of said mixing means.
