A multi-shift vehicle-body assembling apparatus wherein a side body structure to be assembled to a floor structure to form part of a vehicle body is moved into a position ready to be assembled to the floor structure by means of a fixture assembly carried on a jig carrier structure rotatably mounted on a movable platform which is horizontally movable into and out of a predetermined position with respect to the floor structure or on a supporting base structure which is rockable between two angular position about a fixed axis.

Multi-shift vehicle-body assembling apparatus

Herein disclosed is an automatic vehicle-body assembling apparatus for automatically welding together an engine compartment assembly, a front floor assembly and a rear floor assembly to constitute a vehicle floor structure of an automotive vehicle, each of the engine compartment and front and rear floor assemblies being composed of a plurality of component members, comprising a frame structure, lower and upper working stations including lower and upper carrier means movable in lateral directions of the frame structure, at least two jig assemblies each operative to hold in position the engine compartment and front and rear floor assemblies during each cycle of operation, the jig assemblies being carried on the carrier means of one of the lower and upper working stations, and at least two welding units each operative to weld together the engine compartment and front and rear floor assemblies during each cycle of operation, the jig assemblies being movable in a lateral direction of the frame structure alternately between a predetermined operative position within the frame structure and a predetermined outermost lateral position, the welding units being movable in a lateral direction of the frame structure alternately between a predetermined operative position within the frame structure and a predetermined outermost lateral position.

Automatic vehicle-body assembling apparatus

Herein disclosed is an automatic vehicle-body assembling system for welding together an engine compartment assembly, a front floor assembly and a rear floor assembly to form a floor structure of an automotive vehicle, wherein the component members to constitute each of the engine compartment and front and rear floor assemblies and the individual assemblies to constitute a vehicle floor structure are first provisionally or tack welded together in a primary assembling stage and are thereafter completely welded together in a series of secondary assembling stages.

Automatic vehicle-body assembling system

A two-shift automatic assembling apparatus for selectively assembling a component member or members to an incomplete work of one model or a component member or members to an incomplete work of another model during each cycle of operation, comprising a base structure rotatable about a horizontal axis and having two opposite faces parallel with the axis. Two sets of assembling fixtures are mounted respectively on the two faces of the base structure so that one of the two sets of fixtures can be moved into operative position by turning the base structure into one of two diametrically opposed angular positions about the axis thereof.

Two-shift automatic assembling apparatus

The system is used for imprinting indentification code on individuals of articles such as automobiles produced in quantity, particularly on an assembly line, and comprises an instruction unit to provide a data signal representing an identification code to be imprinted, a stamping machine in which setting of imprinting types is performed automatically according to the data signal, a sensor which provides a signal representing an actual state of the type setting, and a comparator which provides an operation signal to the stamping machine only when the signal from the sensor agrees with the data signal and otherwise provides an alarm signal. For further accuracy of imprinting operation, the system may include a sensor to detect the type of the individual article to be imprinted and another comprator to prevent the action of the stamping machine also when the type of the article differs from one implied by the data signal.

Code imprinting system having error preclusion function

An apparatus for and a method of automatically assembling a body structure of an automobile body, in which side panels are downwardly conveyed into first temporary positions over a floor panel and adjacent jig means, adjusted for proper positions relative to the jig means, moved into second temporary positions, clamped by the jig means, moved from the second temporary positions into final working positions ready to be welded to the floor panel which has been conveyed into a working position thereof, and welded to the floor panel into a unitary structure. The side panels are initially held in positions horizontally close to each other and are gradually moved toward positions horizontally spaced wider from each other as the side panels are conveyed downwardly. The apparatus and method may be modified so that not only the floor panel and the side panels by a cowl-and-dash-panel subassembly and/or a parcel shelf member are assembled together.
