A metal gasket for sealing multiple cylinder bores includes one or more metal substrates, main sealing beads around each of the cylinder bores, and one or more sub-beads. The main sealing beads include meandering portions located in a sealing portion between the cylinder bores, and the sub-bead is provided between the meandering portions. By placing the sub-bead between the main bead meandering portions, the base portion of the meandering portion and the base portion of the sub-bead squeeze each other. As a result, the lower portion of the meandering portion can be prevented from slipping, and the surface pressure can be partially reinforced. The metal gasket provides an excellent seal in a location where surface pressure is often partially reduced.

Metal gasket

A cylinder head gasket for an internal combustion engine is formed of a first metal plate extending substantially throughout an entire area of the gasket. The metal plate includes a base portion, at least one hole corresponding to a cylinder bore of the engine, a curved portion for defining the at least one hole, and a flange extending from the curved portion to be located above the base portion. A plated layer formed of soft metal is disposed on at least one surface of the base portion, curved portion and flange of the first metal plate facing outwardly of the gasket to thereby form a sealing portion by the plated layer.

Cylinder head gasket

A gasket includes a first plate formed of a plurality of first plate pieces. Each plate piece has at least one combustion chamber hole therein, and a device for connecting the first plate pieces together. The first plate pieces are arranged such that the first combustion chamber holes are aligned in series and two first plate pieces situated adjacent to each other are connected through the connecting device.

Gasket

A cylinder head gasket is provided for dealing with gas leak between cylinder bores of an engine with a reduced size and rigidity. A cylinder head gasket is formed of one or more metal plates. One metal plate is provided with a first bead, a second bead, and a third bead arranged from inside in this order around a cylinder bore. The first bead is formed around each of the cylinder bores. The second beads are combined into a single bead having a width greater than a width of other section of the second beads in an area between adjacent cylinder bores. The third bead does not pass through the area between the adjacent cylinder bores and surrounds all of the cylinder bores.

A metal laminate gasket includes two surface plates, and an intermediate plate. The second surface plate has a folded-back piece folded back around a sealing hole and disposed on a first bead of the first surface plate surrounding the sealing hole. The first plate has a curved portion with a height higher than that of the folded-back piece and disposed adjacent to an outer peripheral edge of the folded-back piece. The curved portion has a crank shape section or a Z-character shape section. A second bead is provided in the intermediate plate adjacent to the curved portion.

Metal laminate gasket

A metal laminate gasket includes a first plate, intermediate plate and a second plate laminated together. The first plate has a curved portion for defining a hole to be sealed, and a flange extending outwardly from the curved portion. The intermediate plate is situated above the first plate laterally outside the flange. The second plate is situated above the intermediate plate and has a first bead disposed inside the intermediate plate and under the flange, and a second bead disposed outside the first bead and adjacent the flange. The second bead projects upwardly beyond the flange and has an inner section immediately outside the flange and an outer section outside the inner section. The inner section is inclined greater than the outer section.

A cylinder head gasket for an internal combustion engine is basically formed by first and second metal plates laminated together. The first metal plate includes a base portion, a first hole to be sealed formed in the base portion, a curved portion extending from the base portion to surround the first hole, a flange extending from the curved portion and located above the base portion, an annular portion formed in the flange immediately outside the curved portion, and a first bead formed in the flange outside the annular portion to project outwardly. The second metal plate is laminated on the base portion not to overlap with the flange.

A cylinder head gasket is provided for an engine with low rigidity and a high maximum pressure. In the cylinder head gasket, it is possible to enhance the secondary sealing without greatly affecting the primary sealing. The cylinder head gasket is formed of a first metal plate with a first full bead under a folded portion around a cylinder bore, and a second metal plate with a second full bead around the first full bead. The second metal plate is made of a material with elasticity greater than that of the first metal plate, and is arranged with a gap relative to an outer edge of the folded portion so as not to overlap. The first full bead and the second full bead have top portions facing in opposite directions.

A cylinder head gasket is provided for dealing with gas leak between cylinder bores of an engine with a reduced size and rigidity. A cylinder head gasket is formed of a single metal plate provided with beads around cylinder bores. The bead has a portion formed in a wave shape only between adjacent cylinder bores. The wave shape portions may be arranged to enter with each other. The adjacent beads may be arranged such that the wave shape portions face each other. Alternatively, the adjacent beads may have a common wave shape portion.

A cylinder head gasket for sealing between a cylinder head and a cylinder block of an engine is formed of a base plate made of a first metal material, such as an annealed stainless material and a soft steel material, and at least one circumferential member made of a second metal material, such as a spring steel material, disposed at a portion for sealing a liquid hole provided on an area outside an area surrounded by bolt holes. On the circumferential member, there is provided a bead surrounding the liquid hole, and also, the circumferential member is integrally connected to the base plate.

Head gasket

A cylinder head gasket for an internal combustion engine is formed of one metal plate having a base portion extending substantially throughout an entire area to be sealed, a hole formed in the base portion corresponding to the hole of the engine, and a bead surrounding the hole. A resin coating is deposited on at least a part of the bead of the metal plate. Thus, the bead is reinforced and sealing ability is improved.

A metal laminate gasket is installed in an internal combustion engine having at least one hole therein. The gasket includes a first metal plate, a second metal plate situated over the first metal plate, and an auxiliary sealing member. The first plate includes a base portion, a curved portion to define a first hole, and a flange extending from the curved portion. The flange, the curved portion and a part of the base portion constitute a main sealing portion without substantial elasticity. The second plate has a large second hole and is situated above the base portion of the first plate. The sealing member is situated in a space between an edge of the second hole and the flange. The main sealing portion non-resiliently seals around the hole, while the sealing member resiliently seals outside the main sealing portion, so that even if the engine is made of light metal, the engine is not damaged by the gasket. The gasket can securely seal around the hole.

A metal gasket is formed of a metal plate having a hole, an edge portion around the hole, and a base portion extending substantially throughout an entire area of the gasket and located outside the edge portion. At least one annular projection and at least one annular groove are formed on at least one side of the edge portion of the metal plate as one unit. The annular groove is located between the annular projection and the base portion. The base portion of the metal plate has a thickness greater than a thickness at the annular groove and less than a thickness at the annular projection to thereby provide a surface pressure at the at least one annular projection.

A metal gasket of the invention is used for an internal combustion engine. The gasket is basically formed of one metal plate extending substantially throughout an entire area of the engine to be sealed. The gasket includes a plurality of cylinder bores and a plurality of liquid holes. At least one corrugated bead is formed in the metal plate to be located around at least one of the liquid holes without forming corrugated beads around all of the liquid holes. The corrugated bead is formed at a portion where a surface pressure sufficient to seal around a liquid hole is not obtained.
