A light-emitting device of a very simple configuration in which uniform LED light illumination can be obtained with a low light quantity loss, the device having a low production cost, improved emission characteristic and excellent cost efficiency and reliability. A transparent body is disposed in the vicinity of a LED, and a light-scattering layer that scatters the light of the LED is formed by coating on the light-illuminating surface of the transparent body through which the light of the LED passes. The light-scattering layer contains 2.5 parts by weight to 4 parts by weight of a filler and has a thickness of 5 &#x3bc;m to 20 &#x3bc;m.

A magnetic recording medium of the type comprising a non-magnetic substrate and a magnetic recording layer formed on at least one side of the substrate. The magnetic recording layer comprises particulate alpha-Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 and carbon black as additives dispersed in a resin binder along with a magnetic powder. A magnetic recording medium of the type which comprises a non-magnetic substrate and a magnetic recording layer formed on the substrate. The magnetic recording layer is made of a dispersion of magnetic powder in a binder and a lubricant which is a reaction product of a monobasic fatty acid and a monohydric alcohol in a molar ratio of 1:0.3 to 1:0.8.

Magnetic recording media are described which are characterized by a recording layer formed on at least one side of a support and made of magnetic particles and a TiO powder dispersed throughout a resin binder. The TiO powder is used in an amount of 0.1 to 35 wt % of the magnetic particles and has an average size of about 0.015 to 5 microns.
