A method for reducing gel in a polymer kneaded compound flowing in a polymer flow duct includes flowing a polymer kneaded compound in a polymer flow duct to a gel reduction mechanism including a gel reduction member having one or more through holes defining a squeezing flow path having a flow path cross-sectional area smaller than the polymer flow duct. The squeeze ratio S1/S2 of the squeezing flow path is 25 to 177.8, where S1 is a flow path cross-sectional area of the polymer flow duct and S2 is a sum total of flow path cross-sectional area of the squeezing flow path, to generate an extensional flow in the kneaded compound.

Gel reduction method

A continuous mixer includes a barrel with a hollow interior, and a pair of mixing rotors housed in the barrel and that rotate in mutually different directions, each mixing rotor including a mixing portion with plural mixing flights formed about an axial center of the mixing rotor and projecting radially outward. The mixing rotors have a center distance therebetween smaller than a rotation outer diameter of each of the respective mixing flights. An inter-rotor clearance, which is the smallest clearance between the mixing portions at each rotation phase of the mixing rotors in a cross section perpendicular to axial directions of the both mixing rotors, has a dimension allowing an extensional flow to be generated in a material passing through the inter-rotor clearance. The continuous mixer can reliably and efficiently mix a material having a large viscosity difference between a dispersed phase and a matrix phase.

Continuous twin-screw mixer and mixing method

A continuous kneading device including a pair of kneading rotors, capable of increasing mesh between the kneading rotors while also suppressing a kneading load applied to the kneading rotors. The continuous kneading device including a barrel and a pair of kneading rotors housed in the barrel. The kneading rotors rotate in mesh in directions different from each other. Each kneading rotor includes a plurality of kneading flights for kneading a material supplied into the barrel. The material is fed axially from the upstream kneading section to the downstream kneading section to be sequentially kneaded. The kneading flight constituting the downstream kneading section has a rotational outer diameter larger than a rotational outer diameter of the kneading flight constituting the upstream kneading section.

Continuous kneading device

A method of eliminating gel contained in polymer, by efficiently plasticizing and melting the polymer supplied into a barrel with the stress in a rotor reduced, and next kneading the polymer with a rise in temperature of the polymer suppressed and a residence time of the polymer in the barrel increased. A continuous kneader for realizing this method is also provided. The gel eliminating method includes the first step of plasticizing and melting the polymer by using a first rotor having a given number of wings; and the second step of kneading the polymer after the first step by using a second rotor having a given number of wings fewer than the number of wings of the first rotor, so as to suppress a rise in temperature of the polymer and increase the volume of a kneading chamber to thereby increase a time period of residence of the polymer in the kneading chamber. The continuous kneader includes a rotor having the first rotor and the second rotor.

A continuous mixer in which the rotors used to mix the material are composed of a rotor shaft, and a plurality of rotor segments fitted onto said rotor shaft. The plurality of rotor segments can be removed from the shaft and replaced by rotor segments of differing specifications to produce a rotor of a different shape and specifications in accordance with any change in the kind of mixing conditions required.

Disclosed is a two-shaft continuous mixer used for homogenization of plastics, manufacture of compounds of composite plastics and the like. A mixing control apparatus is also provided, in which a gear pump as a material discharge mechanism is directly coupled to a material discharge opening, in which apparatus, a mixing degree is positively controlled within the mixer under the constant feed condition of the pump over the wide range of viscosities under the stabilized operation. Continuous mixer

Disclosed is a closed type mixing and kneading apparatus with two juxtaposed double-wing rotors providing increased mixing and increased shearing action. One of the wings of each rotor has a length ratio of 0.6 to 0.9 relative to the total length of the rotor at a twist angle of 10.degree. to 40.degree.. The two wings of each rotor are overlapped by between 0.2 and 0.8 times the total length of the rotor.

Closed type mixing/kneading apparatus

A continuous mixing machine for mixing a material fed at one end and discharging the mixed material through a discharge orifice at another end in a continuous sequence which includes a plurality of rotors each provided with mixing blade members, a mixing chamber encircling the plurality of rotors and a throttle member defining a part of the mixing chamber at a position facing the blade members and adapted to be moved toward and away from the rotors so as to vary the space within the mixing chamber. In a modified machine, the mixing chamber is provided with a vent hole at a position intermediate the throttle member and discharge orifice.

Continuous mixing machine

An internal mixer includes a pair of rotors each having spiral vanes adapted to advance materials in the axial direction of the rotors. More particularly, each of the respective rotors has a long vane and a short vane and each of the vanes is of a spiral direction. The spiraling or screwing direction of the long vane is the same as the screwing direction of the short vane on the respective rotors. The flow of the materials along the axial direction differs from one rotor to another. Also disclosed is a mixing and kneading machine including a pair of parallel rotors each having a long vane and a short vane, the long vane extending spirally about the center lines of the rotors and the short vane extending along the center lines of the rotors. Flowing behavior of material to be mixed and kneaded occurs in opposing directions between both rotors.
