A positional information providing system is provided in which positional information including altitude can be highly accurately acquired even though a user is located outdoors or indoors. A system includes a server device including a map data storage unit, an altitude storage unit, a reference position coordinates receiving unit, a reference point altitude information generating unit locating reference position coordinates and reference point altitude, a map data transmitting unit and a reference point altitude information transmitting unit, and a terminal device including a positional information acquiring unit, a reference point information transmitting unit, a reference point altitude information receiving unit, a map data receiving unit and a reference point altitude detecting unit detecting altitude at a reference point. The terminal device includes a calibration unit for the altitude data acquired at the reference point altitude detecting unit and a map display unit displaying map data and altitude data.

A television receiver and a signal receiving method thereof includes a terminal for connecting the television receiver to a personal computer for inputting information from the personal computer to the television receiver, a display for displaying a television signal, an input operation means, such as a remote controller, for generating a command signal, and a controller supplied with the command signal for controlling the personal computer and for inputting the information from the personal computer through the terminal to the television receiver for converting the television receiver from a television mode to a personal computer mode for displaying the information on a screen of said display. An automatic tuning system for a television receiver. A first binary-coded signal circuit comprising a plurality of comparators for encoding in a binary signal a signal output from a frequency discriminator is provided together with a second binary-coded signal circuit for encoding in a binary signal the presence and absence of a synchronizing signal in a signal from a synchronizing separation circuit and a signal from a deflector circuit. The first binary-coded signal circuit is connected to two first logic circuits, two flip-flops and a differentiating circuit, while the second binary-coded signal circuit is connected to two second logic circuits, two flip-flops and a differentiating circuit. Each of the flip-flops is reset by the output signal from the logic circuits actuated by said both binary-coded signals, and is set through a plurality of channel selecting switches operated by associated channel selecting buttons. A tuning voltage generating circuit is provided which comprises a high impedance amplifier and an integrating circuit. With such circuit arrangement, the tuning voltage applied to an electronic tuning type tuner is so controlled in dependence on the signal produced upon actuation of the channel selecting button that an optimum voltage level is automatically produce to thereby assure that a broadcast signal of the selected channel can be received in a constantly stabilized manner.

In a channel selection system using a PPL frequency synthesizing method in which the local oscillation frequency of a tuner is frequency-divided and compared with the frequency and the phase of a reference oscillator thereby to control the tuning voltage of a tuner, a channel selection system disclosed by this invention comprises a controller, a variable frequency divider the frequency division ratio of which is controlled by the above controller, an AFC circuit connected to this tuner, a first comparator having a first threshold voltage for detecting an H level of the inverted S character output of the AFC circuit, a second comparator having a second threshold voltage for detecting an L level of the inverted S character output, and a delay circuit connected to the output of at least one of the first and second comparators and delaying the rising edge of the comparison output.
