An interior-finishing material for use in automobiles including a substrate made of a needled glass-fiber sheet containing a thermoplastic resin binder, with the said needled glass-fiber sheet being mainly composed of glass fiber, a heat-fusible adhesive layer with air permeability disposed on the substrate, and a surface layer with air permeability disposed on the adhesive layer, and the substrate further contains expanded microbeads.

Method for producing interior-finishing material for use in automobiles

A textured surface pattern of projections and recesses provides a good appearance and low susceptibility to damage and clogging by dirt and wax for an automobile bumper made of synthetic resin. The depth of the pattern is in the range from 20 to 70.mu., the curvature of the tops of the projections is in the range from 3 to 30.mu., the curvature of the bottoms of the recesses is in the range from 2 to 30.mu., the depth as measured from the level where each recess has a width of 200.mu. to the bottom of the recess is less than 20.mu., and the distance from one top to any adjacent top is less than 2500.mu..

A polypropylene composition useful for producing a shaped article, for example, a bumper, having excellent rigidity, resistance to mechanical impact at a low temperature and superior lacquer-bonding property and appearance, comprises: (A) 40% to 75% by weight of at least one crystalline ethylene-propylene block copolymer in which the content of the polymerized ethylene is in the range of from 5% to 10% by weight, in which the polypropylene component has a fraction thereof insoluble in boiling n-heptane, in an amount of 97% or more, in which a fraction of the block copolymer soluble in p-xylene at room temperature, has an intrinsic viscosity of from 2.5 to 4 determined in decahydronaphthalene at a temperature of 135.degree. C. and which has a melt flow index of from 11 to 70; (B) 20% to 40% by weight of at least one amorphous ethylene-propylene copolymer having an intrinsic viscosity of from 1.0 to 2.0 determined in decahydronaphthalene at a temperature of 135.degree. C., and a Mooney viscosity ML.sub.1+4 of from 5 to 40 determined at a temperature of 100.degree. C.; and (C) 5% to 20% by weight of talc in the form of fine particles having an average size of from 0.1 to 5 microns.

Propylene polymer composition

A shaped article having excellent rigidity, resistances to thermal deformation and to mechanical impact at a low temperature, a superior lacquer-bonding property and a satisfactory appearance is made from a propylene polymer composition comprising (A) 45 to 65% by weight of at least one crystalline ethylene-propylene block copolymer in which the content of the polymerized ethylene is in the range of from 5 to 10% by weight, in which the polypropylene component has a fraction thereof insoluble in boiling n-heptane, in an amount of 95% or more, in which a fraction thereof soluble in p-xylene at room temperature, has an intrinsic viscosity of from 3 to 4 determined in decahydronaphthalene at a temperature of 135.degree. C. and which has a melt flow index of from 5 to 70; (B) 25 to 40% by weight of at least one amorphous ethylene-propylene copolymer having an intrinsic viscosity of from 2.0 to 3.5 determined in decahydronaphthalene at a temperature of 135.degree. C., and a Mooney viscosity ML.sub.1+4 of from 40 to 100 determined at a temperature of 100.degree. C.; (C) 4 to 20% by weight of at least one high density polyethylene having a melt flow index of from 1 to 10; and (D) 3 to 20% by weight of talc in the form of fine particles having an average size of from 0.01 to 5 microns, the weight ratio of the amorphous ethylene-propylene copolymer (B) to the high density polyethylene (C) being in the range of from 10:1 to 5:3.

Propylene polymer composition useful for bumpers

Elastic metallized decorative moldings are disclosed composed of a modified polyurethane resin as a substrate coated on the surface thereof with a metallized layer, the polyurethane resin comprising 50-95 parts by weight of a thermoplastic polyurethane resin incorporated with 5-50 parts by weight of an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene resin comprised of at least 75% by weight of an acrylonitrile-styrene component and not more than 25% by weight of a butadiene component. Such elastic metallized decorative moldings are useful as impact-absorbing materials with beautiful appearance for various structures, especially as bumper moldings for motor vehicles.
