A base sheet path for peeled issue (29) for guiding a base sheet (7) in a direction different from a label issue port (22) after passing a peeling section (12) following the printing by a printing section (18) and a base sheet path for continuous issue (30) for guiding the base sheet to the label issue port (22) with labels (9) printed by the printing section (18) stuck on the base sheet are provided. Two operating modes, namely, the label peeled issue mode in which the base sheet is set to the base sheet path for peeled issue and the label continuous issue mode in which the base sheet is set to the base sheet path for continuous issue are executed selectively. In this case, depending on the result of detection by a base sheet sensor (31) arranged facing the base sheet path for peeled issue for detecting the presence of the base sheet, namely, depending on the setting state of the base sheet, the label peeled issue mode or the label continuous issue mode is recognized automatically for determining the issue mode. Namely, depending on the difference between the positions at which the base sheet is set in the label peeled issue mode and the label continuous issue mode, the label issue mode is recognized without adding an issue mode parameter to an issue command.

A platen is located at a print position in a sheet path leading from a sheet supply position through the print position to a sheet delivery position, and a thermal head having an edge portion at which a plurality of heating elements are arranged in a line is held by a head holder, wherein the thermal head is positioned so that the heating elements are kept in contact with the platen through the sheet path at the print position and that the heating elements are directed to a downstream side of the sheet path. With this arrangement, the heating elements of the thermal head can be located close to the sheet delivery position, so that just after a leading sheet after printed is delivered, the next sheet can be printed.

Line thermal printer

A label printer comprises a supporting frame having a pair of side plates facing each other. A print head and a platen roller are arranged between the side plates. Above the print head is arranged a ribbon supply device for running a transfer ribbon between the print head and the platen roller. The ribbon supply device includes a ribbon drive section, and a ribbon unit supported on a supporting member and movable between a first position wherein the unit engages the drive section and a second position wherein the unit is located outside the supporting frame. A fixing member is attached to one of the side plates and movable between a release position wherein the fixing member allows the ribbon unit to move and a fixing position wherein the fixing means engages the ribbon unit to hold it in the first position.

Disclosed is a printer device including a printer body and a battery section. The printer body is provided with a paper accommodating portion for replaceably accommodating printing paper. A driving circuit section is located on one side of the paper accommodating portion for controlling an operation of the printer body. The driving circuit section has at least an operating portion. The battery section has a substantially L-shaped configuration formed by a rectangular body located below the paper accommodating portion and a projecting portion located below the driving circuit section so as to project from one end of the rectangular body.

A printer includes a platen roller and a print head for printing information on a recording medium moving between the platen roller and the head in a predetermined direction. The platen roller is supported by a supporting frame which is rotatably mounted on a supporting shaft so that the platen roller is rockable in directions to touch and leave the head. The platen roller is pressed against the head by an urging member. The platen roller is shifted in a direction in parallel to the moving direction by a shifting mechanism as the roller rocks, so that the position of the roller relative to the head is kept constant with respect to the moving direction of the recording medium.

A printing head supporting device including a supporting mechanism for supporting a printing head so that the printing head can be brought into contact with and separation from a platen, and a pressure plate detachably mounted to a printer body. When the pressure plate is mounted to the printer body, the printing head is maintained in contact with the platen to obtain a printable condition. In contrast, when the pressure plate is detached from the printer body, the printing head is maintained in separation from the platen, so that an operator can easily carry out a maintenance work such as cleaning of the printing head or removing of a recording paper caught between the printing head and the platen. Thus, the maintenance work can be easily carried out by a simple operation such that the pressure plate is simply detached from the printer body.

A slip storing apparatus for storing slips successively issued by a slip issuing machine. The slip storing apparatus comprises: a conveying mechanism for conveying slips issued by the slip issuing machine in one direction, and a slip storing unit having a slip support surface for supporting slips at their lower edges, declined to the rear at an angle to a horizontal plane, and a movable slip holding member having a slip holding surface substantially perpendicular to the slip support surface and supported for movement along a plane including the slip support surface.

A thermal printer comprises a pair of fixed frames for rotatably supporting a platen which is rotated by a motor and a head unit rotatably supported by the fixed frames through a pair of movable frames and for supporting a thermal head. A pair of pinch rollers are rotatably mounted on the fixed frames, which are selectively brought to a first operating state to feed a paper sheet to the region between the platen and the thermal head, and a second operating state to feed no paper sheet. The thermal head is selectively moved between a first position, in which it is pressed against the platen, and a second position in which it is disengaged from the platen. The thermal head is moved to the first position, at the same time the pinch rollers and moved to the second operating state, while the thermal head is moved to the second position, at the same time the pinch rollers are moved to the first operating state.

A thermal printer comprises a pair of fixed frames for rotatably supporting a platen, a head unit movable relatively to the fixed frames and swingably supporting an elongated thermal head around its intermediate portion, a pair of leaf springs, one end of which resiliently urges the head unit toward the fixed frames so that the thermal head is pressed resiliently against the platen across a paper sheet, and a cam member having cam faces which are selectively engaged with the other end of the leaf spring for changing the urging force of the leaf spring by stages in accordance with the quality of the paper sheet.

A thermal transfer printer comprises a pair of fixed frames for rotatably supporting a platen, a pair of movable frames supporting a thermal head, the movable frames being connected to the fixed frames so as to be rockable around a shaft, between a position where the thermal head is pressed against the platen and a position where the thermal head is moved away from the platen. The ink ribbon is supported by a supply roll and a take-up roll and may be alternately transported in one direction such that the ink ribbon is directed toward the region between the thermal head and the platen or in the direction opposite thereto. The movable frame is provided with operating member adapted to drive the supply roll to move the ink ribbon in the opposite direction, thereby applying a tension of the opposite direction to the ink ribbon, when the movable frame is rocked so that the thermal head is pressed against the platen.

In a thermal printer of this invention, a detector detects whether a ribbon cassette exists or not, and the thermal printer is automatically changed in thermal sensitive process or thermal transfer process by installing or detaching the ribbon cassette.

A thermal printer is provided, wherein a carrier having a thermal head mounted thereon is driven in both directions and a printing ribbon is fed in an amount necessary to print data in each printing operation. In this thermal printer, a ribbon drive means for driving the ribbon is provided separately from the carrier 20, thereby feeding the ribbon by the distance to be determined in accordance with the front end position of the unused portion of the ribbon and the length of the ribbon necessary to print the print data.
