To provide a head-mounted display that can obtain a higher sense of immersion without sensing coloring by diffusing and transmitting light from an organic electroluminescence display panel by an anisotropic optical film to reduce the visibility of a black matrix (BM). The head-mounted display is provided with an anisotropic optical film on the viewing side with respect to a color filter or an RGB light emitting layer in an organic electroluminescence display panel, said anisotropic optical film having a linear transmittance that varies depending on an incident light angle. The head-mounted display is characterized in that: the anisotropic optical film includes at least a single or a plurality of anisotropic light diffusion layers; and the anisotropic light diffusion layers have a matrix region and a plurality of pillar regions having refractive indexes different from that of the matrix region.

According to the present invention, a light guiding laminate including a light guide plate with good visibility and an anisotropic optical film, and a planar light source device including the light guiding laminate and a light source are provided. There are a light guiding laminate including a light guide plate which has: a light emission surface through which light incident from an end face is bent and emitted in a surface direction, and an angle at which emission intensity in the light emission surface is maximum, the angle being 20&#xb0; to 60&#xb0; with respect to a perpendicular direction to the light emission surface; and an anisotropic optical film which is laminated directly or via another layer and has diffusibility changing depending on an angle of incident light with respect to the light emission surface, in which an opposite surface which is a surface on an opposite side to the light emission surface of the light guide plate has a plurality of concave or convex structures having a size of 50 &#x3bc;m or less and a height or a depth of 50 &#x3bc;m or less, the anisotropic optical film has a matrix region and a structural region formed of a plurality of structures, and linear transmittance of the anisotropic optical film, which is an amount of transmitted light in a linear direction of light incident on the anisotropic optical film/an amount of incident light, is 30% or less at an angle at which the emission intensity of the light guide plate is maximum, and a planar light source device using the light guiding laminate.

Light guiding laminate using anisotropic optical film and planar light source device using the same

This head-mounted display is provided with, closer to the viewing side than a color filter having a black matrix between pixels in a liquid crystal display panel (), an anisotropic optical film (), the linear transmittance of which changes according to the angle of incident light, wherein the anisotropic optical film () includes a single-layered or multilayered anisotropic light diffusion layer, on at least on one surface of the anisotropic light diffusion layer, surface asperities having an arithmetic average roughness Ra of 0.10 &#x3bc;m or less, which is measured in accordance with JIS B0601-2001, are formed, the anisotropic light diffusion layer has a matrix region and a plurality of pillar regions having a refractive index different from that of the matrix region, and the visibility of the black matrix is lowered by the anisotropic optical film (), thereby making it possible to obtain a higher sense of immersion without feeling coloring.

Provided is a light diffusion film laminate for a reflective display device that can improve the reflection luminance at a predetermined observation position (for example, the front direction of the screen) without reducing the visibility not only from the predetermined observation position (for example, the front direction of the screen) but also from a position away from a predetermined observation position (for example, an oblique direction deviated from the front of the screen) and a reflective display device including the light diffusion film laminate. A light diffusion film laminate for a reflective display device has optical diffusibility that changes depending on an incident angle of light, and at least transmits reflected light occurring when incident light is reflected by a reflective layer. The light diffusion film laminate includes at least an anisotropic light diffusion layer that has a scattering central axis and whose linear transmittance changes depending on an incident light angle of the light, wherein the anisotropic light diffusion layer has a matrix region and a plurality of pillar structures, wherein an angle of the scattering central axis is in a range of +6&#xb0; or more and +40&#xb0; or less, or &#x2212;40&#xb0; or more and &#x2212;6&#xb0; or less with respect to a normal direction of the anisotropic light diffusion layer, and an isotropic light diffusion layer disposed on one surface of the anisotropic light diffusion layer.

Light diffusion film laminate for reflective display device and reflective display device including the same

Provided is an anisotropic optical film, which can, while keeping excellent display characteristics (e.g., brightness and contrast) in the direction of a viewing angle, suppress decreased display characteristics in the other directions, when the anisotropic optical film is used as a diffusion film of a display panel. In an anisotropic optical film including two or more anisotropic light diffusion layers where the linear transmittance varies depending on the incident angle of incident light, each of the anisotropic light diffusion layers is provided with a matrix region and a plurality of pillar regions that differ in refractive index from the matrix region, the film includes, as the anisotropic light diffusion layers, at least two types of anisotropic light diffusion layers (a) and (b) that differ in linear transmittance, the maximum linear transmittance of the anisotropic light diffusion (a) is 40% or more and less than 95%, and the minimum linear transmittance thereof is less than 20%, and the maximum linear transmittance of the anisotropic light diffusion layer (h) is 20% or more and less than 40%, and the minimum linear transmittance thereof is less than 20%.

Anisotropic optical film

In an anisotropic optical film including two or more anisotropic light diffusion layers where a linear transmittance varies depending on an incident light angle, each of the anisotropic light diffusion layers has a matrix region and a plurality of pillar regions that differ in refractive index from the matrix region, at least two types of anisotropic light diffusion layers (a) and (b) that differ in aspect ratio between a short diameter and a long diameter at a cross section perpendicular to an orientation direction of the pillar regions are used as the anisotropic light diffusion layers, the aspect ratio between the short diameter and the long diameter in the pillar regions is made less than 2 in the anisotropic light diffusion layer (a), and the aspect ratio between the short diameter and the long diameter in the pillar regions is made 2 or more and 20 or less in the anisotropic light diffusion layer (b).
