An electrical connector includes an insulative housing with a base and a mating tongue forwardly extending from the base in a front-to-back direction, and a plurality of contacts retained in the housing. The contacts include a plurality of differential-pair contacts and a plurality of grounding contacts alternately arranged with each other in the transverse direction. A metallic grounding plate is forwardly inserted into the horizontal center slot of the mating tongue with at least two sets of spring tangswelded to spaced positions of the corresponding grounding contacts, respectively so as to have each grounding contacts mechanically and electrically connected with the grounding plate at at least two spaced positioned in the front-to-back direction.

Electrical connector

An electrical connector assembly includes a plug connector and a receptacle connector each equipped with a grounding bar. The plug connector includes an insulative plug housing with a mating tongue, and a plurality of stationary plug contacts retained in the plug housing. The plug contacts include a plurality of signal contacts and a plurality of grounding contacts. The grounding bar forms a set of first fingers, a set of second fingers and a set pf third fingers respectively located at different positions, to respectively contact the different three positions of the respective grounding contacts.

Electrical connector assembly

An electrical connector includes a housing defining a front and a rear and a first group of contacts. The housing includes a rear base and a front mating tongue defining a first face and a second face opposite to the first face. The first group of contacts is held in the first face of the front mating tongue, the contacts include grounding contacts and signal contacts, each contact includes a retained portion retained in the housing, a contacting portion exposed upon the first face and a connecting leg. The contacting portions of the grounding contacts electrically connect with each other, the retained portions of the grounding contacts electrical connect with each other to reduce electrical length of the electrical connector.

A plug connector includes a housing with a rear base and a front mating tongue in a mating direction and a plurality of terminals arranged in the housing in a lateral direction. The front mating tongue defines a first face and a second face. The first side defines a rib thereby the first face being divided to a first mating face, a third mating face and a second mating face on the rib. The second face is defined as a fourth mating face. The terminals include plate portions exposed upon the mating tongue and mounting legs outside the housing. The terminals are divided to four groups, the plate portions of the four groups are exposed upon the mating faces respectively. Each of the first and second groups of terminals includes grounding terminals and differential signal pairs, the plate portions of the differential signal pairs have a length equal to 3.2 mm.

Electrical connector with improved contacting portions

An electrical connector includes a metal shell, an insulative housing and at least one terminal retained in the insulative housing. The metal shell defines a front-to-rear direction and a lateral direction perpendicular to the front-to-rear direction and includes a pair of elastic arms extending rearward from a rear edge thereof and a pair of latch portions extending along the lateral direction from free tips of the elastic arms. The insulative housing comprises a base portion and a mating portion extending forwardly from the base portion. The base portion defines a pair of protrusions extending along the lateral direction. The terminal includes a contact portion disposed on the mating portion. The metallic shell is assembled to the insulative housing in the front-to-rear direction. The latch portions of the metal shell lock with the protrusions of the housing so as to secure the shell to the insulative housing.

An electrical connector assembly includes an insulative base and a complimentary connector assembled therewith along an up-to-down direction instead of a left-to-right direction. Thus, a small assembly space will be achieved compared to the prior art.

An electrical adapter comprises a first mating portion adapted for engaging a first type interface complement connector, a second mating portion adapted for engaging a second type interface complement connector, a mounting plane adapted for being set on a printed circuit board, and grounding means. The first mating portion defines a pair of first guiding rails. The second mating portion defines a pair of second guiding rails. The grounding means comprises a first contacting arm extending to said first guiding rail, a second contacting arm extending toward said second guiding rail, and a leg extending to said mounting plane, establishing a grounding path from said first mating portion and second mating portion to a printed circuit board.

An electrical connector assembly includes a connector body having a first mating face (), an opposite second mating face (), and a mounting face (or) disposed adjacent a printed circuit board (), which is capable of providing different predetermined voltages. An electrical connector assembly includes an elongated connector body () formed from an insulative material, and a guiding member unitary with the connector body. The connector body includes a front face () adapted to face conductive elements () of a mating electronic component (). A plurality of contact terminals () is adapted to be disposed within the connector body, and extend from the front face for mating with the conductive elements. The guiding member includes a pair of axial guiding legs () transverse to the front face, the guiding legs spaced apart a distance for facilitating insertion of the electronic component along the guiding legs to mate the conductive elements to the terminals of the connector body.
