Wound dressing

A wound dressing for covering a wound is formed of at least one absorbing member and a plurality of elongated activated carbon fibers. The at least one absorbing member is made of a foamed polymeric material and includes a plurality of pores. The activated carbon fibers are distributed in the at least one absorbing member and partially protrude into the pores. Each of the activated carbon fibers has a diameter of 2-15 &#x3bc;m and a length of 40-1500 &#x3bc;m. In light of the above, the tissue fluid leaking from the wound can be absorbed by the absorbing member to prevent the wound from soakage and the activated carbon fibers inside the absorbing member can emit far-infrared rays to promote the blood circulation around the wound for quickening healing of the wound.

The invention relates to a packaging structure of an energy storage device. At least one unit cell of capacitor is stacked and packaged into the energy storage device. The unit cell is a sandwich structure comprising a solid-state polymer electrolyte between two modified carbonaceous electrodes. An assembly of at least one unit cell of capacitor can be packaged by metallic cases to form a coin cell type or screw type of the packaging structure, packaged with a plastic case by compression molding or injection molding, or packaged by a plastic bag or an aluminum-foil bag and sealed by heat sealing or vacuum heat sealing. Manufacture processes for traditional capacitor modules, such as drilling, welding, screwing, and making scaffolds, are not required. Although the packaging process is simpler and less expensive, the packaged energy storage device can perform better than traditional capacitor modules.

This invention relates to a solid state super capacitor comprising a solid state polymer electrolyte and a modified carbonaceous electrode. Said modified carbonaceous electrode and said solid state polymer electrolyte are layered on top of each other to form a sandwich-like structure. Said super capacitor performs much better than known super capacitor comprising liquid or gel-form electrolytes. Since said super capacitor contains solid state polymer electrolyte, the method of manufacturing said super capacitor is more environmentally friendly and has a higher safety level.

A wound dressing for covering a wound includes a textile layer woven by polyacrylonitrile-based activated carbon fiber, and an absorbent layer provided on one side of the textile layer away from the wound. A carbon fabric of high conductivity and high density is formed of oxidized fibers of polypropylene. The oxidized fibers have a carbon content at least 50 wt %, an oxygen content at least 4 wt %, and a limiting oxygen index at least 35%. The carbon fabric is made by preparing a raw fabric obtained from oxidized fibers of polypropylene by weaving and then carbonizing the raw fabric.

A method for manufacturing a metal-carrying carbonaceous material is provided. The method comprises immersing a carbonaceous material in a metal-containing aqueous solution under vacuum, with stirring, and/or in the presence of a polar solvent, and then thermally treating the immersed carbonaceous material at a temperature ranging from 120&#xb0; C. up to a temperature not higher than the melting point of the involved metal under vacuum or in the presence of a protective gas. A method of fabricating a product of activated carbon fiber supporting silver has the steps of: a) Impregnate activated carbon fibers in a silver acetate solution under a vacuum condition for a predetermined time to deposit silver on surfaces of the activated carbon fibers via a chemical reaction. And then, dry the activated carbon fibers to remove water therein. b) Heat the activated carbon fibers in a stove filled with protective gas to break the silver on the activated carbon fibers into very fine grains, and c) wash the activated carbon fibers to remove redundant sliver from the surfaces of the activated carbon fibers.

The present invention relates to a wound dressing comprising a flexible base layer and an antimicrobial material, wherein the antimicrobial material comprises an activated carbon-carried noble metal, the activated carbon is selected from the group consisting of an activated carbon powder, an activated carbon particle, an activated carbon fiber, and a combination thereof, and the noble metal is selected from the group consisting of silver, gold, palladium, platinum, copper, zinc, and a combination thereof. The invention also relates to an antimicrobial composition for topical use on skin, in which the composition comprises the aforementioned activated carbon-carried noble metal.
