The local dimming method includes: dividing a digital image into multiple blocks and calculating a backlight parameter of each of the blocks; performing a backlight simulation based on the backlight parameters to calculate source brightness of each pixel; quantifying the backlight parameters into multiple reference backlight parameters according to numerical ranges; performing the backlight simulation based on the reference backlight parameters to calculate reference source brightness of each pixel; for each of the pixels, setting a gain of the pixel to be less than or equal to a first value if the corresponding reference source brightness is equal to the darkest backlight parameter, otherwise determining the gain of the pixel according to a ratio of the source brightness to the reference source brightness; adjusting grey levels of the pixels according to the gains to obtain adjusted grey levels and driving the display panel according to the adjusted grey levels.

Local dimming method and display device

A timing controller includes gamma correction (GC), line overdrive (OD) and dithering modules. The GC module performs GC on image data of an input image to convert the image data into gamma corrected data within a partial GC range of a predetermined GC range, the line OD module performs line OD on at least one portion of the gamma corrected data to convert the gamma corrected data into line-OD-processed data within a predetermined line OD range, and the dithering module performs dithering on the line-OD-processed data to convert the line-OD-processed data into dithered data within a predetermined dithering range. The timing controller drives a display panel to map first and second partial data of the dithered data into ordinary and extraordinary voltage ranges of the display panel, respectively, for displaying the dithered image while enhancing brightness. A display module including the timing controller, the display panel, etc. is also provided.

Apparatus for performing brightness enhancement in display module

The structured light imaging device includes a projector including a diffractive optical element, an image sensor, and a processing circuit. The processing circuit is configured to control the projector to emit a beam having a special pattern, and alter an amplitude of the beam during a sensing period. The image sensor is configured to capture an image corresponding to the beam during the sensing period, and transmits the image to the processing circuit. The processing circuit calculates a depth according to the image and a predetermined image having the special pattern. Therefore, the interference phenomenon is reduced.

Structured light imaging device

A method and apparatus for performing display control of a display panel having red, green, blue, and white sub-pixels are provided. The method may include: performing hue calculations on pixel data of an image frame to detect a yellow partial image of the image frame and detect a white partial image of the image frame; determining a distance between the yellow partial image and the white partial image; and when the yellow partial image and the white partial image are sufficiently close to each other, changing at least one of brightness of the yellow partial image and brightness of the white partial image to reduce a brightness difference between the yellow partial image and the white partial image, for controlling the display panel to display the yellow partial image and the white partial image with the brightness difference being reduced, to prevent generating an incorrect color related to inherent deficiency.
