A stapler () by which a workpiece (), preferably a sheaf of papers, is stapled together with a staple, which stapler () comprises a stapling head () accommodating staples and a driver () and connected pivotably by a pivot pin () to a bottom part () which comprises a lower element () and an upper element () which are connected to one another in such a way that they can be moved towards and away from one another (P) and which in an initial state are held in a locking position at a distance from one another by a locking device (), with forming means () arranged between the upper and lower elements, which forming means, when the staple has been fully driven into the workpiece at its insertion area () by the driver, are activated to bend the staple legs towards the workpiece as a result of the upper and lower elements moving towards one another when the locking device is released by an activating means () which is part of the locking device () being acted upon by an unlocking means () disposed on the stapling head, the activating means () of the locking device () being situated at a greater distance in the longitudinal direction (L) of the stapler from the pivot pin () than the insertion area () of the staple.

Stapler

A stapler has a drive train that drives a stapling head toward a base part in a driving stroke and away from the base part in a return stroke. To accommodate thick workpieces to be stapled, without jamming, the drive train includes a coupling constructed so that its effective connection between coupled parts is releasable and so that it loses its effective connection during the driving stroke to prevent jamming.

A stapler for driving staples (,) into a sheaf of papers comprises two guide elements (,) for internal guidance of the legs (,) of the staple (,) during the driving of the staple into the object. Each guide element (,) consists of at least two substantially identical, separate guide parts (,) successively arranged seen in the driving direction of the staple (,). Each guide part (,) is movable between a first position, in which it extends into the driving path of the staple (,) to abut against the inside of the respective leg (,) during the driving of the staple, and a second position, in which it is removed against spring action from the driving path of the staple (,).
