In accordance with one embodiment, a method comprises querying, with a querying component, a print engine to ascertain one or more printmodes that are supported by the print engine, and, receiving, responsive to the querying, a list that describes printmodes supported by the print engine.

Methods and systems for discovering printmodes supported by a print engine

A method of and printing system for printing a multiple page print job on a print medium. A shingling sequence for a first page of the multiple page print job is opened by successively passing a printhead over the print medium and the first page is printed in a steady state mode of the printhead. The steady state mode of the printhead is maintained during a transition between printing the first page and printing a second page of the multiple page print job, such that the second page is printed as a continuation of the shingling sequence for the first page.

Printing system and method using page stitching for printing on roll media

A printer system for and corresponding method of determining an arrangement of status objects forming a status tree structure used to represent hardware components contained within a printer and the status tree structure stored within a print engine of the printer. A change in operational condition of one of the hardware components are detected with a sensor. A state of a status object corresponding to the one of the hardware components is changed to have an active state. A name of the status object having the changed state is transmitted from the print engine to a controller. The status object having the changed state is queried for a root path of the status object with the controller.
