A system, method, and computer-readable medium are disclosed for reproducing an issue via a remote access controller by providing the remote access controller with a method for allowing a user to take a snapshot (i.e., a representation of the state of all components of an integration environment at a particular point in time) of an integration of the various components administered via a management application suite executing on a remote access controller. In certain embodiments, the management application suite comprises an OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter. Such a method reduces the time needed to determine a root cause of an issue and assists system managers in properly providing a solution to the issue.

Generating snapshot of an integration environment to facilitate replication of the environment

A system, method, and computer-readable medium are disclosed for using Zero Configuration Networking (ZeroConf) to automate the discovery of the Internet Protocol (IP) network address of a remote access controller (RAC). A RAC service associated with a networking device is registered programmatically or as a result of receiving user input to a command line interface. Available services that include the registered RAC service are browsed, followed by resolving the registered RAC service to an IP address, which is then discovered. The discovered IP address is then displayed within a user interface (UI) window.

An apparatus, system and method for maintaining Web page state information using a directory server. A directory server stores information for each Web page visited by a user that requires user input. When the Web page is again visited by the user, the information is retrieved from the directory server and inserted into the Web page in appropriate fields based on tags in the Web page document. Thus, the user need not repeatedly re-enter information already entered into the Web page. However, if the user wants to enter new values, the new values will replace the existing ones stored in the directory server.

Disclosed are novel methods and apparatus for reorganizing data in a log file. In an embodiment, a method of reorganizing data in an original log file is disclosed. The method includes: obtaining a data record from the original log file; examining the data record; if the data record includes a single-value entry, inserting the data record in a single-value storage linked list; if the data record includes a multiple-values entry, inserting the data record in a multiple-values linked list; and utilizing data from the multiple-values and single-value linked lists to write data to a new log file.

Reorganizing data in log files for data tracking management

A computer-implemented method for importing/attaching or exporting/detaching a file during a given e-mail operation. From a user's perspective, the method begins when the user elects to perform the import/attach or export/detach function with respect to a given file. If the file resides locally, the operation proceeds as usual by carrying out the function as if the file is on the local system and resides in a known place. If, however, the file does not reside locally, a panel or other user interface is displayed. Using this panel, the user may then attempt to log into a remote system on which the file is supported. Thus, for example, the user interface may require the user to enter a userid, password, hostname, or some combination thereof. If the user login is successful, the routine gets or puts the file (e.g., using an FTP operation) as required, preferably as a background process. Upon completion of the file transfer, the routine then automatically completes the import/attach or export/detach function as if the file is on the local system and resides in the known location.

The method includes providing a defect abstract, the defect abstract including information to identify the defect; identifying a component having the defect; assigning a user to resolve the defect; and assigning a defect number to identify the defect, the defect number obtained by incrementing a counter value stored in a file, the file being accessible by a single user at a time.

Search functions of a physical layout tool are performed by converting a given physical layout name and selected searching layout names from string representations into numerical representations and comparing the converted numerical representation of the given physical layout name with the converted numerical representations of searching physical layout names until a match occurs. In one embodiment, metal and via layer numbers included in string representations of physical layout names are converted to integer values by selecting number characters from predetermined positions in a string, such as number characters that identify the metal or via layer.

Method and system for searching a microelectronic device physical layout

A method is described for allowing remote login to a user's personal workstation. The workstation is a client terminal connected to a server within a network. The method comprises the steps of searching, from a remote location, for a login web page of the network via a web browser and entering a series of login credential information into a particular login request area on the web page. In response to correctly entering the login credential information into the login request area, the user is provided with a graphical user interface (GUI) of the particular user's network terminal and full access to the personal network information such as software applications stored in the memory of the client terminal. (i.e. simulating the user's client terminal GUI and providing full access to locally stored software and functional elements of the user's client terminal). In a preferred embodiment, the login credential information includes the server site, the user identification, and the user's security password. The search for the particular web page and user's workstation using the login credential information is managed by a directory access protocol.

A method of hierarchical LDAP wildcard searching in an LDAP directory service having a relational database management system (DBMS) as a backing store. The relational database normally includes a forward index of the character strings in the database. The method begins by generating a reverse index of the character strings in the relational database. Depending on the position of one or more wildcards in the string, the forward index, the reverse index, or both indices, are used to generate the relational database query.

A method of auditing login activity in a distributed computing environment in which users attempt to log into the environment from workstations using an authentication protocol in which a ticket request and pre-authentication data are communicated from the workstation to an authentication server. The pre-authentication data includes information establishing an identity of the user and providing a proof that the user has entered a password during the login attempt. The method is effected as a background process during the login, and is initiated after the ticket has been returned to the workstation from the authentication server to avoid RPC deadlock. To audit the login, information from the pre-authentication data is used to obtain a simple name of the user. The simple name is then converted into a global format and evaluated. If the name is recognized, it is passed along with the workstation address to an audit API. If the name is invalid, the audit is suspended. After the information is recorded or the audit suspended, as the case may be, process control is returned to the login routine. Preferably, the routine is implemented within the security service of the distributed computing environment.
