Disclosed is a process for isolating and purifying paclitaxel from a natural resource of taxanes, comprising the steps of (a) washing a raw material comprising paclitaxel with water in order to remove soluble impurities from the raw material; (b) extracting with an organic solvent a wet raw material comprising paclitaxel; (c) contacting the wet raw material with a salt to obtain a biomass by precipitation, isolation, and drying; (d) removing resin and natural pigments from the dried biomass by dissolving the biomass in acetone or an acetone-hexane mixture, and adding at least one polar solvent until a paclitaxel-enriched oil phase is obtained; and (e) chromatography purifying the paclitaxel-enriched oil phase in a volatile solvent to obtain a purified solution, followed by crystallization.

Process for isolation and purification of paclitaxel from natural sources

A process for the extraction and purification of Paclitaxel from a natural source of taxanes, comprising extracting Paclitaxel with an organic solvent from a natural source of taxanes, and treating the raw material with a base or an acid to obtain a biomass by precipitation. The biomass is isolated and dried, and resin and natural pigments are removed. The biomass is then dissolved in acetone and at least one non-polar solvent is added, until a Paclitaxel-enriched oily phase is obtained. The Paclitaxel-enriched oily phase is then treated with a base or an acid to obtain a second biomass, which is recovered by precipitation and dried. A solution of the second biomass in a volatile solvent is chromatographically purified at least once and crystallized.

Process for extraction and purification of paclitaxel from natural sources

This invention relates to a process for preparing biological glue components from a plasma pool which combines high recovery, quality product and viral safety. In first instance, a triple viral inactivated product comprising fibrogen, fibronectin and FXIII is obtained by treating a concentrate thereof first with a viricide solvent/detergent solution, second with viral nanofiltration, and third with heat. The recovery of a good quality product is not compromised by the process of the invention. In second instance, the same steps are reproduced for obtaining a triple viral safe thrombin product. In that case, a known proprietary process has been improved to increase the recovery of active thrombin by about two fold. One of the steps which increase the yield of thrombin is the dilution of the prothrombin solution with water 4 volumes to 1 volume prothrombin prior to acid precipitation.

Process for producing thrombin from plasma

The present invention relates to a process of making a concentrate of coagulation proteins starting with whole human or animal plasma. This concentrate is used as a biological adhesive when extemporaneously mixed to thrombin. The concentrated proteins include mostly fibrinogen, fibrin stabilizing factor (factor XIII) and fibronectin. The claimed process has the advantage of being short of execution while providing an excellent yield of coagulable proteins. No protease inhibitor has to be added during the process. The process involves steps of separation by 'salting-out' in presence of amino-6 hexanoic acid which prevents co-precipitation of plasminogen with the desired coagulable proteins. The proteins so obtained are very stable after reconstitution in water for at least 24 hours at room or body temperature. After mixing with thrombin and calcium, the adhesive shows excellent strength and biocompatibility.
