Filling a balloon with a volume of material, the balloon having an adhesive staging segment formed about a peripheral surface of the moldable adhesive cross sectioned profile of the moldable adhesive ring. Retaining the volume of material within an expansion cavity of the balloon by applying a tensile force in a longitudinal direction between ends of the tubular balloon neck segment to expose the moldable adhesive ring from the adhesive staging segment and compressing the exposed moldable adhesive ring to form a seal. The material can be a gas, air, Helium, etc. A tether can be inserted into the balloon neck prior to filling and sealing, where the sealing step secures the tether to the balloon.

Method of filling and sealing a balloon

A method of forming a self-sealing balloon by applying an adhesive to a balloon form, then applying material to the balloon form to create the balloon. The adhesive is applied forming an annular adhesive ring. The adhesive can be applied using a fiberization process. The balloon form can be rotated during the adhesive application process. The adhesive can be encapsulated within an adhesive staging segment formed within a neck segment of the balloon. Airflow can be directed to the interface between an unfinished lip of the balloon material and the surface of the balloon form to aid in at least one of a forming process and a release process. The adhesive ring can be at least partially encapsulated within an adhesive staging segment of the balloon neck segment.

Self-sealing balloon and method of manufacture

A self-sealing balloon comprising a tubular balloon neck segment extending from an opening of a balloon gas retaining expansion cavity. A bead of moldable adhesive material is applied in a ring about an interior circumference of a neck portion of the balloon forming a dispensed adhesive roll. The dispensed adhesive roll is at least partially encapsulated within an adhesive staging segment. The adhesive staging segment can be encased within a rolled lip bead by any suitable process. The rolling process aids in forming the ring-shaped adhesive. In use, the balloon would be inflated. The lip bead would be unrolled, exposing the adhesive ring. The moldable adhesive would be compressed forming a seal, entrapping pressurized air within the balloon gas retaining expansion cavity. This provides a low cost, simple self-sealing solution for a balloon.

The dispensed adhesive roll is at least partially encapsulated within an adhesive staging segment. The adhesive staging segment is shaped into a loop by at least one roller. The roller extends the balloon neck material and pulls the ring downward, drawing the ring into the adhesive staging segment. The ring aids in forming the loop. In use, the balloon would be inflated. The neck would be stretched, exposing the adhesive ring. The ring would be compressed forming a seal, entrapping pressurized air within the balloon gas retaining expansion cavity. This provides a low cost, simple self-sealing solution for a balloon.

A mirror driven by a resonant mechanical oscillator is used to scan a modulated laser beam across a rotating dielectric drum. The incident laser beam line scans the drum to form a charge image thereon which is toned as the drum rotates through a toner bath. The toned image is then transferred to paper by rolling contact. The laser beam scan velocity across the drum varies sinusoidally because of the resonant nature of the drive system. The data flow which modulates the laser beam is rate-controlled by a variable clock to accommodate the periodic variations in scanning velocity. The modulation rate -- the data flow rate -- is varied periodically to match the periodically varying scan rate to produce a uniform image element density or spacing across the scan lines of the dielectric surface. The variable clock is also applied to the laser beam modulator to compensate for the periodic variations in the charge density of the image caused by the nonlinear scan velocity.

A mirror driven by a resonant mechanical oscillator is used to scan a laser beam across a document. The incident laser beam line scans the record and is absorbed or reflected depending upon the presence or absence of an image on the record. The reflected intensity modulated light is detected by photomultiplier tubes which provide a video analog signal. An A/D device digitizes the analog signal forming a DATA OUT signal. The laser beam scan velocity across the document varies sinusoidally because of the resonant nature of the drive system. The data flow, or bit density of DATA OUT, has a corresponding sinusoidal variation. A write rate controller provides a variable clock which accompanies the DATA OUT. The variable clock has a periodic variation which matches the scan velocity. The rate of the variable clock matches the bit density of DATA OUT causing DATA OUT to be entered into a data bank properly notwithstanding its nonuniform bit density.
