A connector plug for interconnecting plurality of twisted pairs of wires in a cable has a body portion having a flared recess therein. A flared insert fits within the recess and has a top surface having first and second wire pair guiding channels and a bottom surface having third and fourth wire pair guiding channels extending from a cable entrance end to a contact end of the body portion. The insert has a channel defining cross-tail which is insertable into the end of the cable and the cable is crimped thereto by a crimping ring. A contact bearing contact base is mounted on the contact end of the body portion with the contacts immediately adjacent the end of the insert. Thus, the wires stay twisted from the cable to the contacts.

Low crosstalk communication connector

A cord has a jacket for containing wires. The jacket has a plurality of circular portions and a plurality of non-circular portions alternating with each other. The circular portions are substantially circular, and the non-circular portions are substantially non-circular, and may be in the shape of a 'C' or 'U'. The 'C' or 'U' shape maintains the wires in a predetermined order. A method for forming cord includes alternately: (a) extruding a circular portion having a cross section that is substantially circular around a plurality of wires; and (b) extruding a non-circular portion having a cross section that is substantially non-circular around the plurality of wires. The extrusion is continuous, so that the non-circular portion is adjacent to the circular portion. The non-circular portion may be opened so that the conductors are arranged substantially in a line.

Disclosed is a multifiber optical cable array connector which includes a central block having a plurality of bores that is made up of a lower chip having v-grooves on its upper surface and an upper chip having v-grooves on its lower surface which is superimposed over the lower chip to form the bores. An optical fiber ribbon cable has its insulation removed and the fibers are inserted through every other bore in the block. A second optical fiber ribbon cable similarly has its insulation removed at one end and is superimposed over the first ribbon cable with its fibers being inserted through the remaining bore. Because of this construction substantial numbers of fibers may be received in this connector.

Multi-fiber connector

Connectors, such as 110-type patch plugs, are designed to reduce near-end crosstalk that is generated when the connector is mated to a corresponding receptacle, such as a 110-type connecting block. Connectors of the present invention employ a two-stage crosstalk compensation scheme in which a first stage induces a compensating crosstalk signal, having opposite polarity as the original crosstalk signal, while the second stage induces a counter-balancing crosstalk signal, having same polarity as the original crosstalk signal. The two-stage, counter-balanced crosstalk compensation scheme of the present invention takes into account both the magnitude of the original crosstalk signal as well as the phase differences between the original crosstalk signal and the compensating and counter-balancing crosstalk signals that result from the different locations along the signal path at which the crosstalk signals are induced. The contacts of the connector are designed such that the magnitudes and locations of the compensating and counter-balancing crosstalk signals provide effective crosstalk compensation over a particular range of frequencies, e.g., 1 MHz to 200 MHz.

Connectors, such as 110-type patch plugs, are designed to reduce near-end crosstalk that is generated between the twisted pairs of multi-wire cordage. Connectors of the present invention have a wire guide having a plurality of channels within which the different twisted pairs and ultimately the individual wires are distributed from the cordage to corresponding conducting contacts of the connectors. The channels of the wire guide enable improved control over the twist rates of the different twisted pairs as well as the routing paths between the cordage and the contacts which reduces the level of near-end crosstalk as well as variability in that level from one connector assembly to another. In one particular embodiment, the connector has a four-piece modular design (not counting the individual contacts) having separate wire guide, contact base, top cover, and bottom cover. The contact base receives the conducting contacts and mounts onto the wire guide to form the electrical connections between the contacts and the individual wires.
