A motor control center (MCC) for an industrial automation system, includes an enclosure housing comprising a plurality of sections, including a first section having one or more buckets, including a first bucket, a first bus bar, a second bus bar, and a third bus bar extending horizontally across the first section along a back plane of the enclosure housing, and a first electrical component, configured to perform one or more functions of the MCC, disposed within the first bucket of the first section. The first electrical component is directly electrically coupled to the first set of bus bars such that the first electrical component draws a first phase of power from the first bus bar, a second phase of power from the second bus bar, and a third phase of power from the third bus bar.

An industrial system includes a load control assembly, an integrated absence of voltage tester (AVT), and an absence of voltage indicator. The load control assembly has a supply input, a load output, a disconnecting device, and a load controller coupled to the load output, with the disconnecting device coupled between the supply input and the load controller. The AVT is integrated into one of the disconnecting device and the load controller, and the AVT configured to detect an absence of an operating voltage of the load control assembly. Embodiments of this present disclosure may include a handle disposed on an outer surface of a housing of electrical circuitry. The handle may provide access to at least a portion of the electrical circuitry. The handle may include a status indicator that emits light in response to a control signal from control circuitry. The status indicator may be disposed around the handle. The control circuitry may detect a state of the electrical protection circuitry. The control circuitry may also transmit the control signal to the status indicator based on the state. Described herein are improvements for a power system by operating the power system using updated performance characteristics for a protection device. In one example, a method includes operating the power system based on a first operational curve for a first protection device of the one or more protection devices. The first operational curve indicates conditions upon which the first protection device will trip. The method also provides obtaining trip information describing conditions that cause the first protection device to trip at each of one or more trip occurrences during operation of the power system. The method further provides adjusting the first operational curve to generate an adjusted first operational curve that reflects the trip information and operating the power system based on the adjusted first operational curve.

For latching an equipment unit door of an equipment unit in a control center, an apparatus includes a latch pin, the unit socket, and a structure socket. The latch pin includes a latch shaft with a latch interface disposed on a pin proximal end and a latch wing disposed on a pin distal end. The latch pin rotates to one of an open position, a unit latch position, and a structure latch position. The unit socket passes the latch wing in the open position and obstructs the latch wing from moving in a proximal direction in the unit latch position. The structure socket passes the latch wing in the unit latch position and obstructs the latch wing from moving in the proximal direction in the structure latch position.

An electrical enclosure, such as a Motor Control Centers (MCC), can include a ventilation system providing airflow while protecting from both ingress of solid objects as small as 1.0 millimeter and egress of gasses from an arc flash by providing a protective mesh with holes having a dimension of less than 1 millimeter, a bracket coupled to the mesh for providing a rigid support, and a flap configured to seal against the bracket and block the mesh in response to a pressure wave produced by an arc flash. The flap, normally open for airflow, can close in response to the pressure wave, by bending at a perforation line to move the flap toward the mesh. The electrical enclosure can also include a normally closed exhaust system. The exhaust system can be configured to open in response to the pressure wave to allow the gasses to escape.

The present inventors have recognized that electrical units for Motor Control Centers (MCC's) can be improved to allow testing in a partially disconnected state while providing ingress protection through the use of sealing members without decreasing the size of the electrical unit. In particular, a full size electrical unit, able to advantageously accommodate a full array of electrical components like most other electrical units, can be partially withdrawn from an MCC for testing while still providing protection from the possibility of shock, gases and/or other hazards by way of sealing members such as gaskets and/or plates. Such sealing members can be mounted to the electrical unit to effectively seal the electrical unit with respect to the MCC when partially withdrawn.
