A secondary manipulator device for positioning a distal portion of an elongated medical instrument inside a patient is disclosed. The secondary manipulator device includes a retaining member having a channel configured to receive therein an intermediate portion of the elongated medical instrument. The retaining member can include a lock comprising a seat against which the elongated medical instrument can rest and a resiliently deformable retention arm that is movable relative to the seat. The lock, when in the securing state, can retain the intermediate portion within the channel to allow translating and/or rotating of the distal portion.

A medical fluid pumping system includes a medical fluid pump for pumping a process fluid and a medical fluid chassis operable with the medical fluid pump. The medical fluid pump includes a first pump chamber, a first inlet valve chamber including a first inlet valve diaphragm, a first outlet valve chamber, a second pump chamber, a second inlet valve chamber including a second inlet valve diaphragm, and a second outlet valve chamber. The medical fluid chassis includes a motive fluid source providing motive fluid at a motive fluid pressure. The first and second inlet valve diaphragms are configured to actuate from an open to a closed position at a pressure less than the motive fluid pressure to mitigate process fluid backflow through the first and second inlet valves.

A blood treatment system includes (i) a blood pump including a first blood pump chamber operable with a first inlet valve and a first outlet valve, and a second blood pump chamber operable with a second inlet valve and a second outlet valve; (ii) an arterial blood line; (iii) a dialyzer placed in fluid communication with the arterial blood line, wherein the blood pump is provided along the arterial blood line upstream of the dialyzer; and (iv) a venous blood line extending downstream from the dialyzer. The system also includes a processor configured to sequence the first and second blood pump chambers so as to achieve a pulsatile pattern of filling the first and second blood pump chambers and an at least substantially constant pattern of discharging blood from the first and second blood pump chambers to the dialyzer.

The embodiments disclosed herein relate to catheter assemblies. The catheter assemblies can include a multi-lumen catheter, a junction hub, and extension legs. The catheter assemblies can also include a sheath that includes a membrane that is permeable to one or more gases and impermeable to one or more liquids or solids. The catheter assemblies can be configured to deliver food to a patient through a first lumen, and simultaneously vent or aspirate one or more gases from the patient through a second lumen. The catheter assemblies can also include preformed catheters that assume a non-linear three-dimensional shape when in a relaxed state.

A tamper-resistant device for holding a portion of an access port of a fluid line can include a first housing member that includes a first recess and a first stopping shelf. The device can further include a second housing member that includes a second recess and a second stopping shelf. The second housing member can couple with the first housing member such that the first and second stopping shelves cooperate to retain the portion of the access port within the device. The device can include a locking mechanism configured maintain the first and second housing members in a coupled state when engaged. The device can further include a tamper-evident indicator that, when activated, permits the first and second housing members to transition from the coupled state to a decoupled state to permit access to the access port of the fluid line.

A process fluid pump can include a pump chamber, an inlet valve, and an outlet valve. Diaphragm regions can define at least a portion of each of the pump chamber, the inlet valve, and the outlet valve. The diaphragm regions can each have an actuation region with a surface that is convexly shaped when the formed actuation region is in a natural unstressed first state, and each formed actuation region can be actuated by a motive fluid to transition to a second state in which the surface is non-convexly shaped.

A medical fluid delivery device includes a process fluid body including first and second sides defining a first process fluid inlet valve seat and a first process fluid outlet valve seat and a second process fluid inlet valve seat and a second process fluid outlet valve seat; a first motive fluid plate defining a first aligned motive fluid inlet valve actuation area and a first aligned motive fluid outlet valve actuation area; and a second motive fluid plate defining a second aligned motive fluid inlet valve actuation area and a second aligned motive fluid outlet valve actuation area. Heat sensors can be positioned within an anatomical vessel of a patient so as to monitor temperature changes, such as during ablation procedures in the heart. Some heat sensors can include a wire that defines an extended heat sensing region capable of detecting a change in the local temperature. Some heat sensors can be conformable to an inner surface of a wall of an anatomical vessel to maintain contact therewith or to be in close proximity thereto.

A holding device for elongated instruments can include a channel for receiving therein an intermediate portion of an elongated instrument. The holding device can include a lock that includes a seat against which the elongated instrument can rest and a resiliently deformable retention arm that is movable relative to the seat.
