The present invention allows a web form submitted by a web user to be routed to an analysis system in real-time. Specifically, once a requested web page has been fully loaded and parsed, any existing submit methods and/or on-submit handlers attached to web forms within the web page are replaced with a new submit method and on-submit handler. When a valid web form is submitted by the user, the destination of the web form is changed to the analysis system, by the new submit method, for a fixed period of time. After the period of time has expired, the original destination is reinstated and the web form is routed thereto.

Real-time method, system and program product for collecting web form data

A method is presented that enables custom applications to embed rule authoring capabilities. In one embodiment, the method includes: imbedding a rule picker into an existing software application; presenting a choice of rules to be implemented in the existing software application, wherein a business vocabulary context defines and limits the choice of rules that is presented; and integrating a selected rule, from the choice of rules, into the existing software application. The business vocabulary context may be determined by a business vocabulary of the existing software application, wherein the business vocabulary is composed of software objects that describe a current session of the existing software application. The business vocabulary context may be defined as a name of a category that is passed to a rule creation engine by a rule picker in an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), such that a rule picker tag may be rendered in the IDE.

Rule management using a configuration database

The present invention provides a solution for efficiently tracking web user sessions. Specifically, under the present invention, web user sessions are tracked on an analytics system based upon a unique identifier assigned to a requested web page and a session cookie that identifies a particular web user session. By tracking web user sessions in this manner, web page data transmitted during a particular web user session can be efficiently and accurately correlated for analysis.
