An injection device for the self-administration of an injection of solution that includes a body portion/handle configured for engagement with a cartridge containing the solution and an injection needle. The injection device includes a safety mechanism whereby ejection of solution from the injection device cannot be done unless the safety mechanism is released. The injection device further involves two-stage deployment whereby a needle may be inserted upon release of the safety mechanism and solution is injected upon full insertion of the needle.

Injection device, system, and method for use

A roller board device like a skateboard or scooter operated by a user with one or more user-maneuverable wheel assemblies that are automatically returned to their 'true north' position is provided according to the invention. The roller board device comprises an elongated deck, at least one wheel assembly, a rotation assembly operatively engaging and extending through the opening in the deck, one end of the rotation assembly being connected to the wheel assembly positioned below the deck, the other end of the rotation assembly being connected to a user interface member extending upward beyond the top surface of the deck, and a north-seeking return mechanism secured to the deck containing an engagement member movable along a linear axis within a housing and engaging a spring disposed between the engagement member and an interior wall of the housing, the rotation assembly operatively connected to the engagement member to convert rotational movement of the rotation member into linear movement of the engagement member. When the user applies rotational force to the user engagement member to turn it to the left or right, the rotation assembly and wheel assembly are rotated in the same direction and degree to allow the roller board device to be turned, the rotated rotation assembly interacting with the engagement member of the north-seeking return mechanism to move the engagement member along its linear axis to a retracted position to compress the spring. But, when the user releases the rotational force upon the user interface member, the spring extends from its compressed state to its elongated state to move the engagement member of the north-seeking return mechanism back along the linear axis from its retracted position to its standby position, counter interacting with the rotation assembly to return the wheel assembly of the roller board device to its true north position.

A collar-mounted GPS and stimulation unit includes a body. Quick-mount retention clips extend from the superior and inferior lateral edges, bend in a 90 degree angle towards the center, and extend for a short distance before terminating. The preferred embodiment collar mounted GPS unit is preferably slightly wider than a standard nylon dog collar. The collar is made of a flexible material, such as nylon, leather and most other common collar materials, and can operatively be pinched to fit in between the quick-mount clips, then released to expand into normal shape within the space between the retention clips and the ends of the collar-mounted GPS and stimulation unit. A special stimulation unit is used in combination to protect the animal from harm.

A vital sign measurement device includes a sensor fixation device, a sensor frame, an optical sensing system, and an output unit. The sensor fixation device is adapted to be placed against an anatomical location of a subject. The optical sensing system includes an optical waveguide, an optical source device to supply optical energy to the optical waveguide, and an optical detector to detect an amount of optical energy exiting the optical waveguide. The optical sensing system is adapted to sense an arterial pulse from the compression or flexing of at least a portion of the optical waveguide resulting in reduction of the amount of light exiting the optical waveguide. The output unit is configured to receive a signal indicative of the amount of light exiting the optical waveguide and to generate a measure of the vital sign based at least in part on the received signal.

Optical power modulation vital sign detection method and measurement device

A gas-assisted fluid-dispensing device () for delivering an aerosol. The gas-assisted fluid-dispensing device () includes a syringe () that contains a fluid and includes a distal end (), a proximal end (), and a plunger () extending proximally from the proximal end (). A spray nozzle tip () is configured to generate the aerosol and is coupled to the distal end () of the syringe (). The gas-assisted fluid-dispensing device () further includes a housing () having first and second housing portions (). The first housing portion () includes a docking port () for receiving the syringe (); the second housing portion () is configured as a handle. A trigger (), coupled to the housing (), is operably coupled to an actuating member () that is configured to apply a force onto the plunger () of the syringe () and discharge the fluid from the syringe () and into the spray nozzle tip (). A self-contained pressurized gas source () is coupled to the housing () such that it moves with the housing () and is also coupled to the spray nozzle tip (). Delivery of a pressurized gas to the spray nozzle tip () is controlled by a control mechanism () and atomizes the fluid to generate the aerosol.

An optical motion sensing device included a sensor frame defining an opening, a sensor pad disposed in the opening, an optical sensing system adapted to detect an amount of movement of the sensor pad in the sensor frame, and an output unit. The optical sensing system includes an optical waveguide, an optical source device, and an optical detector. The optical waveguide is positioned within the sensor frame such that the movement of the sensor pad results in the flexing or compressing of the optical waveguide. The optical source device supplies optical energy to the optical waveguide. The optical detector detects an amount of optical energy exiting the optical waveguide. The output unit is configured to receive a signal indicative of the amount of optical energy exiting the optical waveguide and to generate a measure of the amount of movement of the sensor pad from the received signal.
