Approaches to sharing information about third-party data sets in the context of an application. A computing device may be used to determine the context of an application that is executing on the computing device and searching an index that includes entries representing publisher data sets. The computing device may search the index for entries that are associated with the context of the application. In response to finding such an entry, the computing device displays information about the publisher data set that is associated with the entry.

A method for context transfer for data storage is disclosed. The method includes receiving, from an analysis environment, a request to load a data item for analysis, creating, based on the request, a task request including context information of the data item, transmitting the task request to a data manager environment, receiving, from the data manager environment, an approval of the task request based on the context information, and loading the data item in a master data store in response to the approval.

An apparatus, method and system for accessing database attributes stored in a first database are disclosed. The database attributes may be stored in a proprietary manner. The invention includes a data access layer having a second database, which maps visible attributes to the database attributes. The second database includes one or more artificial attributes, stored in meta data. The invention also includes an attribute pre-processing module for scanning a user request to see if the request includes the artificial attribute. The attribute pre-processing module creates an artificial attribute post processor, which can build a real attribute from a combination of the artificial attribute received from the attribute pre-processing module and a visible attribute received from the first database via the data access layer.

Method, system and apparatus for accessing stored spatial data

A paleogeographic search system is provided for locating geoscience data relevant to a geographic search aperture. The paleogeographic search system comprises a geodatabase, an interface, a paleogeographic reconstruction engine, and a host processor. The paleogeographic engine is configured to transform the geographic search aperture according to tectonic plate movements to a transformed search aperture that the geographic search aperture occupied in a geological age of interest. The host processor is configured to apply a paleoaugmented geographic search aperture to a geodatabase for additional oil exploration data relevant to the geographic search aperture today. The paleoaugmented geographic search aperture is defined by augmenting the transformed search aperture to include relevant proximal locations for the selected geological age of interest to create an augmented transformed search area; and transforming the augmented transformed search aperture, according to tectonic plate movements, to the paleoaugmented geographic search aperture in present day world geography.

The method for providing a data context service involves extracting context information from a host application associated with an oilfield project, the context information includes a current state of a user in the host application, sorting the context information into multiple dimensions of relevance, generating a search profile for each of the multiple dimensions of relevance, requesting a first set of searches using at least the search profile, receiving oilfield data items resulting from the first set of searches, obtaining a quality measure of an oilfield data item of the oilfield data items based on a pre-determined quality criterion, sending the oilfield data item as a search result to the host application after determining the quality measure exceeds a pre-determined threshold, and generating an output using the host application based on the search result, the output being used to perform an oilfield operation.
